Got a nice Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT I use now and again, I pulled it out having last used it a few weeks ago and it’s not responding to the power button - the green power light comes on, the power light lights up for a fraction of a second when the power button is pressed then they all go off apart from the “mains” light which flashes orange until you unplug it again

Tried the old battery out and hold the power button down trick with no success, also these have an internal power transformer and I can’t see any bulging caps or anything...

It does the same thing when I try to start it on battery power (the battery does still hold a good charge)

Anyone have any suggestions as it’s a nice old thing and I’ve just bought a new keyboard for it? 🙁

Have you checked and/or removed the CMOS and standby batteries (located under the palmrest)? Having them eventually leak and cause issues seems rather common with these machines.

Yes I’ve checked that out, I removed them a long time ago as they were dead, no visible corrosion on the board.
