I recently acquired a Slot-A 800MHz Athlon processor on a whim, even though I have no Slot-A motherboards (and I likely never will, as they are super, super rare where I live) but having the CPU for $2.50 was something I couldn't pass up on. The issue is, it came without a cooler on it. By that I mean, it has the metal heatspreader that is part of the cartridge casing, but not the actual cooler that goes on top of that.

I am very unfamiliar with the Slot-A cartridge form factor. Is it cooler compatible with Intel SECC or SECC2 packages? Does it require a different kind of cooler? What can I use to cool this?

I know for sure at least that the kind that has the half a square latching mechanism should be compatible. Not sure about the screw on OEM style one's. EDIT: Quick google search https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c5/f9/f3/c5f9f … f410296ef6d.jpg this is kinda what I am referencing here.

It should be SECC compatible as I'm using one from a 300Mhz Klamath on a Slot Athlon. No idea about SECC2.
