In addition, there's also "FAT Sorter", a utility for Windows. It will sort files in a specific order on a FAT medium.
FlashFloppy also supports normal FAT (FAT12/16B), I believe, since that's what my 64MiB pen drive currently uses.

I went the USB-Serial route however. Or USB-TTL route, more correctly (+3,3v or +5v).

That beeing said, a true serial port from a 486 -without a converter (max232, etc)- would kill that poor thing (+/-12v).
The common USB-serial adapters with DE9 connectors all use +5v, too, so they *could* work as well.
(Never tried myself so far. I got one of these USB-Serial boards that are sold as accessories for Arduino, Raspberry Pi and alikes.)

Edit: I forgot - Please ignore the issues I described in that thread.
In the mean time, I updated the firmware a few times and they are all gone by now. ^^

Either method requires me to solder the pinheads on the PCB anyway, so I'm waiting. 😊

You can find solderless headers around, on ebay and whatnot. They work pretty well for things like this.

Woa, I never even imagined something like this exists!

Are we talking about the pins required for the TTL cables to make contact with the Gotek PCB ?
If so, if you can't find/get them locally: You can borrow them from broken PC motherboards.
They are on the front side of these boards sometimes, where the cables for speaker/power/led/etc connect to.

Alternatively, you can try to cut off the legs of some spare resistors..
The 1/4Watt or 1/2Watt types have legs which are thick enough, I believe.

Anyway, these are just some provisional solutions.
Getting the proper pin headers is more elegant, of course. 😀

I already have aurdino cables around (cables with male/female dupont connectors) but the real reason is "Getting the proper pin headers is more elegant", of course 🤣

Besides, some of them also required permanently for some simple hardware mods, not just jumpering it for programming and connecting the TTL adapter.

I did this mod the other day my bios won't boot from my any of my floppy images, but in can view them in windows.

Am i missing files that should be on the main of my fat32 formatted flash drive?

Makes sense. I did the speaker mod right away from the start. I choosed a medum sized piezo speaker, added a cable with pins, and did set the volume to 19 in FF.cfg.
For mounting, I choosed the double sided tape. It worked nicely, since the speaker still had its black plastic casing
(the shop didn't sell other models. The guy on the cash register recommended me to crack it up if I needed the speaker only).

Not that I know of. 😐 You need FF.CFG, IMAGE_A.CFG and some image files (*.ima).
Maybe it helps changing some of the default settings. Or making it bootable from the machine itself the Gotek is installed in.
I attached the files that seem to work on my PC/XT clone right now.

Edit: Tip: You can test your image of bootability in emulators or virtual machines.
Such as PCem, Virtual PC, DOSBox (BOOT image.ima). Always works for me.
Except for some odd OSes like DOS Plus. For some "!%&§$" reasons (please excuse the heavy speech) it refuses to boot on my vintage PC.

Even though it boots in generic PC emulators. Maybe it's because I use a boot diskette for my Gotek, not sure.
(The A: drive is a 360K drive. I'm ussing a special diskette that boots from B: drive, which is a Gotek. Works fine for PC-DOS.)

I recently got FlashFloppy working on my IBM XT. It has the OLED display mod, as well as an RGB rotary encoder.

Currently the rotary encoder just changes from Blue to Cyan when there is disk activity.

My update worked no problem so far, albeit my Gotek was still running with
the original updater/reloader that I got when I flashed the Gotek first time..

Does flashfloppy work under dos? I flashed my gotek with flashfloppy and in win98 it works great, under dos though I only get a not ready error.
