Hi all,

Is there a way to disable ISA plug-n-play/auto-detect either in BIOS or in W98?

I'm well on my way with my PIII W98 machine. I have an Nvidia GeForce4 MX 460 and a Soundblaster Live! powering that machine quite happily.

I want to install Windows 3.1 on my slave hard drive so I can jump into BIOS, boot from D and get 3.1 running. Of course neither of these cards have 3.1 drivers.

So! I have two ISA cards that are W3.1 compatible: a Soundblaster 2 and a Trident 9000i.

Trouble is the Trident is autodetected when W98 boots, which installs a generic VGA driver and overrides the Nvidia driver. Annoying.

It would be a shame and annoying to have to open up the case and take out/put in the Trident whenever I want to run a different OS.

So, my question again:

Is there a way to disable ISA plug-n-play/auto-detect either in BIOS or in W98, to prevent this happening?

Thanks

Disabling the Trident in device manager isn't working ?

Another thing can be BIOS itself, once the VGA hardware is initialized there's no going back, and if the ISA VGA is initalized first the PCI/AGP card is not gonna be able to do any VGA business (though higher non VGA resolutions could still work, and some cards like Mach64 have option to disable VGA side just for this sort of occasions).

I think I'll try installing the ISA driver then disabling it then, but will perform a backup first...
