That's a very cool build. How did you set up AWE64 and GUS PnP? I have a very similar setup (only with AWE32 and GUS PnP Pro) and I still have occasional issues with games.

i set 240h i7 d3 for the gus, and 220h i5 d1 h5 for the blaster. my p3 and the dx4 has 3 sound cards (live, awe32, guspnp and sbpro2, gus, rap10).

what is the issue exactly? if the pc is too fast it can be also an isa timing problem, many games cant detect the card - but if you set it correcty, it can work. but it depends on the isa card and the mainboard too.

eg here:
https://www.vogonswiki.com/index.php/List_of_ … sensitive_games
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1993) garbled Adlib music 486 16 Reduce clock speed or disable cache with Setmul

i could play on the p3 with my sb16, i dont have to disable the cache, just i had to set the 16 bit recovery from 1t to 8t.

drives are coming... with some color test. the mitsumi fdd fit well, but the odd is always hard.

on the photo:
* 52x lg nos drive (2004)
* toshiba 32x (1999)
* toshiba 24x (1997)
* hitachi 4x (1995)

i bought the 24x drive to this case, but the color doesnt match, and the drive is buggy too 🙁 staying with the 52x nos lg, until a more authentic drive.

not too easy to find early pc66 sdram. the 32m is suitable to a 1997 mainstream computer.

Looks like a good build man, with the PSU i'd leave it alone if its a new one. Last thing you'd want is the PSU going out and taking everything with it

it is an old enermax from 2002 😀 just maybe one of the latest with -5v. the measurements look ok, but i plan to send to a professional checking (and recap if it is necessary).

fireball st replaced with IBM Deskstar 8 DHEA-38451 8.4G IDE (available from 1997.09)
and i put back the 64m sd... it was terribly slow with the 97 games, the hdd seeks continuously.

yeah... with this ram and hdd far from the mainstream 😀 if i would use a p2 300, it would be a highend machine.

I was thinking about buying one of these cases before, but by simply looking at the photos I could not determine if it is rather sturdy/high quality case. How satisfied are you with the case? Does it have sharp edges? Does it make an overall good impression?

the ibm hdd was so annoying, i turned back to the "mainstream" line. i also did some research about these months to get the more "typical" configuration:
LG PC66 SDRAM 15ns 32M
Hercules Terminator 3D/DX 4M PCI S3 ViRGE/DX
Quantum Fireball ST 3.2G IDE

i also found a NOS case. the styling is very typical "97". unfortunately the front of the case is slightly yellowish, i got an another panel with it. it is possible, i will move back.

i did not like this case, i put back this rig to the slim 😀 it looks good, but it is yellowish, and rubbish quality compared to the old one. maybe after some retrobrighting, i try again.
