I picked this board up a while ago, and verified that it does boot. The board is rather nondescript, and the only markings i can find on it are "MB-025". it has some headland chipset, and an AMD 386SX-25.

I noticed the cmos battery was starting to get fuzzy, so I clipped the leads on either side and removed it. It appears to be the typical older rechargeable nicad cmos battery if I'm not mistaken.

Now, it won't boot at all. Does it need a battery in place for it to boot? I figured it would just not retain the cmos setup. Just below where the battery goes is a 4 pin header for an aux battery. I tried hooking up a battery pack to this (but with primary cmos battery still removed) and it doesn't boot either. Did i somehow inadvertently kill the board?? thanks in advance!

well, i hooked up the speaker so i could listen to the post codes.. and it turns out that it was counting the memory and trying to boot.. culprit, was the precise moment between when it was working, and when i hooked it back up after removing the battery, the MONITOR died. who would have thought? i smacked the monitor and it started working again. guess i'll have to take it apart next..
