I apologise for creating yet another Screamer thread, but no one seems to have had this sort of error that I was able to find. When I try to run Screamer (1) with VDMS, regardless of settings (it seems), I get the following error:
<See attachment>

Is there a known resolution to this sort of startup crash?
Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I am kinda stuck.
(Also, DOSBox crashes to desktop when I try to run it, same in WinXP w/ Win95 compatibility mode)

Confused myself with the account activation... 😅

No idea, but you could try using DOS32A instead of DOS4GW to see if that helps.

Where can I get DOS32A, sorry?
How lazy of me. My bad.

I get a similar looking error under DOS32A...
VDMS or DOSBox.

I'm installing it again, this time to the default directory...
I'll see if that helps. I'll try VDMSound and DOSBox, without first running setup, just in case I messed something up last time.

Make sure that you install it from inside of DOSBox using the same settings (mount and config-wise) that you intend to run it with.

Okay shall do. I managed to get it running in VDMS but no CDROM support (even though I enabled it) so I can't get past the intro sequence.
I'm trying DOSBox (I'll mount drive-to-drive so it doesn't get confused, yes?)

If that's no good, I'll reinstall through DOSBox...

Thanks for the help.

Well, I got it to run in DOSBox once I sorted out the paths, but unfrtonutely its horribly jerky, no matter how much I crank up the cycles and drop frames...
I'm using DOS32A aswell...
Any other ideas for speeding it up a little?
Ah... DOSBox is also asking for the CD... Hmm...
I'll check that I mounted it and then post again.

Make sure you mount it with the -t cdrom and -ioctl options.

Well, with the CDROM mounted I can get the music at the start, so it is reading the CD... but then it still asks me to insert the Screamer disk ^^'
Go figure. It still jerks like crazy too. 🙁

Oh, I didn't have that 2nd option on the CDROM mount. I'll give it a go, thanks.

Okay, with the CDROM mounted with MSCDEX, I can get into the game, and if I set it to low detail and have it on 24000-26000 cycles with a frameskip of 5, it is playable. So w00t! That was worth it, even if only for the nostalgia (I got whooped good 😁).
Thanks for the help HunterZ.
