Sorry to jump in, but I am new to the system and don't know how to post here. I changed the IBM PS/2 floppy drive with another one that I thought was good and am getting now a 601 error. Any idea what that means ? Did I shoot the controller ?

Best is to create a new thread for your specific purpose 😀

I split it off to a new topic.

For future reference, Jodel, go to the index (index.php ), select the subforum you want to post in, and then after its index page loads, hit the "new" button at the top, to start a new topic.

Replying to another topic is fine provided you are on topic (ie. the problem they are having, issue they are talking about, etc., is exactly the same as yours, or what you have is worth contributing) and provided you aren't replying to an ancient topic (the last known reply in the topic is more than 3 or more years old, many posters don't keep the conversation fresh in their mind for that length of time).

According to http://www.mcamafia.de/mcapage0/error_04.htm error 601 means a defective floppy drive. Probably just jumpered wrong or the wrong type? Some of the PS/2 floppy drives are also known to suffer from bad caps.
