Casually flipping through fleabay and found the above Jetway mobo with a Duron CPU in the deal ..Duron 950 CPU
It had the IO shield as well
..which was a bonus
KT133 via chipset ..AGP2x/4x
Socket 462/A
1xISA

I guess the price was good £30 inc postage.

I'm guessing a good retro board for 98se ?
will it handle XP ??
no idea..

any good ???
comments welcome.

Jetway boards are usually decent no-frills with reasonable stability (have a few myself) - should be fine for XP. Actually think I looked at that very board couple of weeks ago when it was listed as untested but forgot to follow-up!

I just wanted to publicly acknowledge the vendor 81fenix who sold me this mobo on ebay ..
It was posted to me this morning ..and he has thrown in a couple of extras ..
ie some ram ..a heatsink and fan ...
plus will upload the mobo drivers and make them available to me.
Now _that_ is above and beyond imo..

Not bad.

One thing to immediately do with a Jetway board from that era, particularly this one, is to check the state of the capacitors. They are almost always bulging, leaking and failing, or on the verge of doing so. If they are, they need replacing, or you risk catastrophic failure of the board and if you're unlucky maybe some of the components connected to it.

Also, don't expect much of an overclock from that Duron 950 - it's already the fastest Spitfire Duron CPU, so the design is simply near its limits.
