The PCBs from Aisler arrived. I already have the components from Mouser. So pending some spare time I can start assembling three little converters!

Apart from the stupid CF connector, this will be my first SMD soldering.

I've been trying to contact the 'matze79' fellow on youtube, he said to contact him via email but didn't provide an address. There doesn't seem to be a way of contacting him directly on this board either.

I finally got around to soldering my first adapter. I have not yet powered it up, nor have I programmed the ATTINY.

I have some questions, matze:

* You mentioned something about power being swapped. Can I simply use a center positive 5V supply on this thing or will I fry it?

* Which pin header is for programming? And what is the other pin header for? (JP1 and X1)

Edit: Ok, I see from the traces that JP1 is an alternative serial pin header. I just need to figure out the pinout to connect it to my ASYN2 port of my Multi IO card... And hence X1 is the programming header for the ATTINY. Also still need to figure out the pinout for that.

Edit2: Does the device need to be powered on for programming, or rather not?

* What does SW1 do?

Another question that came to my mind:

Since there is a linear voltage regulator on this thing -- can I use the 12V input as well? There are cheap Molex to barrel plug converters out there, so I don't need to build my own...

Did you not get a pre-programmed chip with the kit? I never programmed anything for my own assembly.

I made my kit from scratch via matze‘s github repo.

Ok, successfully programmed the ATTINY. Also figured out the polarity of the PSU jack. Now left is the serial pin header. But for a start I can just plug it into my multi card...

The Switches where placed onboard for turning on Mouse Wheel Support etc.
But we had no success getting your hands on a RS232 Scroll mouse yet. (Experimental Stuff...)

The 6 Pin header is for programming. its standard ISP Pinout.
You don't need a header there 😀

There is 5V on the ISP Header.

Only the DC-Jack is swapped. GND = center Pin
Why not simply plug in a COM Cable to Pinheader of I/O Card ?

Yeah, I used the 6 pin isp with my cheapo usbasp clone with avrdude. Seemed to have worked. Now I need to test the whole thing, connect the device to the IO card and feedbin some power.

Its enough to connect 5v and mouse to see if its alive, the led should show feedback when you move the mouse 😀

Don't laugh, but I accidentally ordered a male rs232 socket - the picture showed a female socket... so I can't plug it to my IO card without a gender changer. I am waiting on new female sockets to arrive from China...

Hence I wonder: what is the pinout of the header next to the rs232? I can probably figure it out using my meter, but maybe it's faster to just ask. 😀 Also: do all 9(?) pin ASYN headers of IO cards have the same pinout?

Just look in the Schematic 😀 there is how the header is connected.
