Hey all, I've been using dosbox for a little while with great satisfaction. I just installed Norton Antivirus and Spysweeper a couple of days ago at the insistence of my wife. After doing this, I've had problems with playing games in dosbox. It will run fine for a couple of minutes, then turn off unexpectedly. I would imagine that this is a Norton issue with memory usage, but I tried to disable Norton antivirus and Spysweeper and it had no effect on the outcome. Something of note: I tried playing it in window mode instead of fullscreen and it seemed to work fine. I played for about 15 minutes before getting off with no problems. However, I would like to play in fullscreen mode since, the whole point of playing these old games is to remember what it was like many years ago. Any advice y'all could give me would be greatly appreciated. Uninstalling the programs isn't really an option, since I want to keep peace with the wife. 😉 Thanks.

Well, uninstalling Norton <anything> is always a good idea. Back in the DOS days, there was no way around the Norton programs. These days, they cause a lot more trouble than they help you. There are a number of good antivirus programs that are free for personal use, like FreeAV and Avast. Just stay clear of Norton stuff.

I run Norton Antivirus, but I don't let it do any automatic protection because it sucks up way too many resources. I just use it as a manual virus scanner.

Same here but using F-Prot. I do not like automatic scanning. It makes your system crawl and eat up too many resources.
