I was "actively-not-buying" anything for a while, but I can't stop myself when I see a known brand S7 ATX board for cheap:
A Soyo SY-5XAE socket 7 motherboard, Intel Pentium MMX 233 CPU with cooler and 128MB SDRAM for about 25USD.
I have no idea about this board, I only know Soyo is a good brand. Is there any details that I should know about this board? What about compared to an Asus TXP4-X?
Sellers photo:
Nice board, can go down to 2.1V so it can take K6-2 K6-3 CPUs. Appears to support up to 75MHz officially meaning it can do 400/450MHz (there might be an unofficial 83MHz setting for 500MHz as well). Good pickup 😎
I know the guy you bought it from, by the way.. He's a very cool seller and never sells stuff he doesn't test fully. Buy with confidence.
Just got these new friends to play with:
Greetings

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll be probably looking for a K6 II/III soon, then. 🤣
I'm happy to hear that this guy is not a "regular" sahibinden seller. We are extending our communication at the moment, maybe we can exchange some parts (apperantly he is looking for a 5.25 drive, which I have a couple of extra).

I never owned an AMD K6-2 (or any other K6) system before, so I thought it was time to change that:

Planning to pair it with an ASUS TXP4 socket 7 motherboard that I already have. However, I don't know if the whole system will stay with me in the long run since it would be a bit too much redundancy in the 1996-1999 era, given the fact that I already have fully working P1, P2 and P3 configurations.
I ordered a Dell GF2 GTS 32mb for $13.50 shipped. It should be here Tuesday.

Anyone care to guess what I'll be doing? 😀

Yes, I have one of those. I just need a Fatal1ty video card. Nvidia GS8800
This guy might well be the most annoying face in gaming hardware; I really don't see why one would build a tribute PC to him but good luck to you all the same.
He's about 8.0 on the Pai face punchability scale. (Ajit Pai - 10.0, Nigel Farage - 9.5)

No doubt about that but his memorable performance in the European Parliament, calling Herman van Rompuy a damp rag was just hilarious... 😁

Na, already have one. But: it's something that was designed by people on 'the other' forum. Also, the IC is an amplifier...

excellent, enjoy!
I also received a soundcard today:
It's OKish but sadly opl4 is only usable under win3x/9x , under DOS you get SB-PRO/WSS + OPL3 . Maybe a good card for a win3x build ? 🤣 most likely I'll trade it back or store it or forget about it. 😵

I have one of these as well. I wonder if there is a way to make it work under DOS.. even if there had to be some custom TSR or something made for it.
I found the documentation for OPL4 on an ftp site so that may give some clues.

With a face like that, he should be on Home and Away or some other douchey soap opera 😀
Edit: BTW, to be back on topic, ordered an ET4000AX video card
