If a motherboard manual doesn't have specific cpu type jumper settings for 486sx and it only has cpu type jumper settings for intel, cyrix and amd dx/dx2/dx4 cpu types, does the it work with a intel 486sx 25Mhz if I set the cpu type to 486dx and bus speed to 25Mhz?

It should. Same multiplier, same voltage. SX have (officially no FPU) disabled FPU onboard.

Thanks.
I assume I won't break anything by trying if the 486sx cpu will work when the motherboard arrives in mail?

Here is the 486sx that I was planning on putting on a 486 motherboard that should be coming in few days in mail.
I have no idea if it has FPU or not.

The attachment 486sx25.jpg is no longer available

I am bit curious about the 1989 year on the cpu because as far as I know 486sx didn't exist in 1989. Anyone has any information about that?

^The year typically refers to the date of first release of a particular architecture or CPU family (80486 in this case), AFAIK. The "233" in the second line points to your particular 486SX as having been manufactured on the 33rd week of 1992.

No 486SX has a usable FPU. They are either fused off in early models or not present at ll in later models.
