Yes, that's really newbish question, but I haven't figured that out yet! I found in the forum the following: "In Windows put the id of the device you want to use" . Please tell me what's meant by 'id'.

It's easiest to just leave dosbox.conf set to use the default Windows MIDI device, then use the Sounds and Audio Devices applet in the Windows Control Panel to select which MIDI device should be the default one.

Is it possible to switch MIDI devices inside of DOSBox? As in switching from device 0 to 2 and back, through the command prompt?

I'm using a large batch file to automatically configure and launch many different games and I'd like to set some games to use General MIDI, (SB Synth A) and others to use an MT-32 (SB MIDI Port), for example, without having to go through Windows' audio device menu.

Thanks in advance.

Update: I discovered this is possible, I had previously misread the README file and was using an incorrect syntax.

For the record, type in the following:

CONFIG -SET CONFIG=#
(# being the number of your MIDI device)

Excellent, I can now load each and every game I have installed with the press of a button, and no longer have to change any cycle, mounting, sound etc. settings! -- Gaming. Nirvana.

Did I mention how much I love DOSBox? Many thanks for this excellent program.
