I have this Asus CUSL2 motherboard in my Halloween build computer but it has problems.

I am using a 1ghz Pentium-3 Socket 370 CPU
and 512mb ram PC-133 ( 2 x 256mb ).

This motherboard has jumper settings for CPU type and a BIOS soft CPU setting. You can use one or the other.

I tryied using the jumper settings but it would not boot.
So the only way to get it to boot is to disable the jumper settings and use the Soft CPU settings in BIOS.

The problem I am having is that I sometimes get 2 beeps before boot up. Some times it will not even boot and I have to power cycle a few times before it boots.

Also, My CPU comes up at running at 1.2ghz.
The motherboard bios CPU soft menu reads that that it the CPU type.

Other than that it performs good and is very stable.

Manually change the CPU frequency to 1000 mhz and also change SDRAM Operating mode to PC133.

Also, I would recommend using the bios Soft Settings (or whatever they are calling it) rather than messing with jumpers.

If it still gives you problems, count the number of beeps at start up, also note if the beep is long or short, etc.

I would also suggest taking pictures of the boot screens so that you can document what error messages you may be getting.

I tried manual jumper setting but could not get the motherboard to boot.
So if you turn all the jumps off it disables the jumpers setting and enables the Soft CPU settings.
However the soft CPU setting are NOT configurable. You must accept what the bios gives you.
In my case the BIOS set the CPU speed at 1.12ghz. where my CPU is a 1ghz.
I set the ram speed at PC-133 but it comes up as operating at PC-100mhz in bios.

I get 2 short beeps on boot up.

I searched the Award Bios beep code list and did not see 2 short beeps listed, but it may be a RAM error. I would try removing one of the RAM sticks, see if it boots. If not, remove that RAM stick and install the other RAM stick. If it boots with only one or the other RAM sticks, but not both, then one of your RAM sticks is bad.

Okay, I went back and double checked my motherboard setting and it turns out I had not set some jumpers right to fully enable the soft cpu bios.

It works fine now and I can fully configure the CPU and cache in bios setup.
No more beep erros.

Thanks.
