BOO !

Post your photos of your Halloween or Octoberfest build and Help contribute to My Halloween computer build by suggesting games and stuff !

This post is about celebrating the Fall Harvest season in October.
People around the world celebrate it differently.

I put a computer together for Halloween but I found it to be under powered for my needs,
But I am going to post it anyways. I will upgrade this later to a Pentium-3 500+ mhz.
The first build Pentium-233 worked fine but did not play DVD movies very good.

First build:
Socket-7 Intel Motherboard.
CPU - Intel Pentium 233mhz.
RAM - 256mb.
Hard-drive - Seagate 72,000rpm 160gb.
DVD-RW - Pioneer
Graphics - S3 trio 64
Network - Intel
Audio - Diamond Monster Aureal Vortex-3 AU8830
Case - Black ATX
OS - Win98se
Web browser I.E. 6.0

Upgrade :
Asus CUSL2 Socket 370 Intel Chipset
CPU - Pentium-3 , 1ghz.
Ram - 512mb.
Graphics - Voodoo-3 3000 AGP
Audio - Turtle Beach Aureal Vortex-3 AU8830 With Optical S/PDIF Out.
Hard-drive - Seagate 72,000rpm 160gb.
DVD-RW - Pioneer
PSU - 450watt
Case - Black ATX
OS - Win98se
Web browser I.E. 6.0

Great software
Windows 98 PLUS !
Gahan wilson's haunted house PC game
F.E.A.R. PC game
Diablo PC game

Video and music
Van Helsing
Young Frankenstein
Dracula
Adams Family
Micheal Jackson - thriller

I have this computer hooked up to my home theather surround sound receiver for 7.1 surround sound via tos-link and prologic audio setting.
Aureal A3D Vortex-3 Sounds great.

This is going to be a cool computer because I can pull it out every Halloween and set it up. Already loaded with all the Halloween stuff I like.
This is a great project for the entire family.
And really inexpensive too. You can purchase a used Windows 98 1ghz computer for about $75 on eBay.

It's a Halloween theme build that you can pull out every year on Halloween season and have fun with all the old screen savers, sounds, and Halloween games.
You can load it up with all your favorite Halloween music, movies and games.

Do you know of any retro Halloween games ?

Think you will be pushing it wanting to run F.E.A.R, min specs are a P4 1.7 / 512mb /GF4. Also stated XP or win2k.

Kiss psycho circus, always felt a bit Halloween'y to me.

Clive Barker's Undying?

Thanks I wish I would have known that before I purchased the game. I already upgraded the computer to a P3- 1ghz. and I like it this way.
I want to keep it retro year 2000 running Win98.

Any more game suggestions ?

That Aureal Vortex-3 A3D sound sounds really good with a 2.1 speaker setup.

Know of any good Horror games for Windows 98 ?

@Intel486dx33,

Blood literally celebrates the horror genre without taking itself too seriously - much like Halloween itself 😀

I like the idea of having themed builds, but the Halloween tradition is all but non-existent here in Russia. Maybe I'll join on a different occasion.

Not really... I think there was some old SNES or flash game that started off with a girl saying "don't kill me" and she dies if you don't do anything. No idea what game that is.

Yeah, This is one of the best Win98 computers I ever put together from scratch. It's very stable and works really good.
I am going to load it up with all my favorite Halloween stuff.
