Hiya again!

I am still investigating the Crystal 423x cards - specifically the CS4237 codec. It works OK for normal SB/WSS stuff as far as I can tell but I am wondering about ADPCM playback in games that use it , like Duke Nukem 2.
For me it does not work reliably: sfx start playing and after a while they either stop (and eventually hard-lock the pc) or just hard hard-lock the system.
So it seems to me this playback feature is either bugged or works 50% or simply does not work with all ADPCM formats (I remember reading the game uses 2 of them).

I am curious about what others say , is the CS4232 for example better in this regard?
Thanks! 😊

I have a CS4232 but no PC to test it with, at the moment 🙁 Maybe in a few months time my 486 will be built, so I can use it to test the dozens of ISA cards I hoarded over the years. If this happens, you will be first to know 😀

Well I tested with CS4237B, it works nice in Duke Nukem 2 in SB pro mode , OPL3 is not like original and when we blast doors in first level we hear no sound, but there is no crash and the sound continues working with no problems.
