GDR Stuff is really amazing 😁

^^ Looks great as it is. The bold colouring - black and red (orange?), is very 80s. The only thing I would change is the size of the font, so that its more discrete. Otherwise, a fantastic job.

thanks, yeah the design is deliberately 'unsubtle' or 'bold', including the font 🤣
yeah on the photo it looks orange, but the actual color is bright 'alarming' red

Good review, what's the latest FW for these?
PS, I really must order your case for mine!

The latest good working firmware (as seen on LGR) is the one from github, from march 31st : https://github.com/lfantoniosi/mce2vga/tree/m … er/output_files
I am now shipping out all boards with this version.
Earlier prototype PCB's may have had a different firmware (not intentional), and did not do composite mode correctly.
So if you have issues with composite mode, it makes sense to update to exactly this version - see also attachment (jic file from github)

Cheers, I can't recall what version I put on mine, I'll have to fire up the blaster and update.

great news... i might actually get to use my ATI EGA Wonder card on my AM386DX40 afterall

AM386DX40 | Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 (486DX2-80) | GA586VX (p75) + r7000PCI | ABIT Be6 (pII-233) matroxG400 AGP
Does this device support multisync EGA modes like 640x480 and 800x600 etc?

I can't get mine to work with anything above 640x350 using my ATI EGA wonder. I've been meaning to ask retrocanada76, the designer of this device, if the firmware could be modified to support those higher resolutions.
The composite emulation also needs a little improvement, i need to post a couple of screenshots here to make that clear.

640x480 and 800x600 are on the VGA spectrum. The device does not have memory enough for holding an entire frame. Unless you design a pass-through mode only converting the TTL to analog. But since I don't have one of these and I don't plan buying one I won't bother.
But there is an easier way to make an adapter for these modes, the VGA is 0.7Vpp so if this output is 6 bit like R1R0G1G0B1B0 all you do is to provide each line a 2 resistor in parallel:
R0 : 1500 ohm
R1 : 750 ohm
G0 : 1500 ohm
G1: 750 ohm
B0: 1500 ohm
B1: 750 ohm
The VGA has a 75 ohm impedance: 5V * (75 / (1500 + 75) + 5V * (75 / (750 + 75)) will give you 0.6926Vpp
The H and V sync are TTL on VGA so just connect them direct. This should work beautifully...
@retrocanada76 I made this sketch to see if I understand what you said. Is this right?
Of course I'd connect the Hsync, Vsync, and GND.
