I tried to flash the ATTiny 4313-PU with my Wellon VP-390 programmer. The Wellon has an option for the 4313. It claims it programmed the *.hex file you provided, and I am able to read back the file from the ATTiny, but when I go to use the converter, the DOS mouse driver is no longer able to find a mouse. When I run ps2maset.exe /g, it hangs with the following screen:

I have also tried attaching the EXT OSC to the ATtiny 4313 while programming it.

So something is buggered up. I tried to follow your "Simplest AVR Parallel Port Programmer" tutorial, but I am confused about a) which SPI pin is pin 1, my red cicle or blue circle (see image here:). I also noticed that the MCU chip on your breadboard is a lot larger than what I have. And what is that smashed silver can for? I assume its the crystal, but then you said we don't need it.

and b) whether this will work with the 4313. You mentioned untested, but would update the ini file. When I download the FWT1201I3TH9DY2.rar and check the ini file, I see 4313 still absent. Did you determine if 4313 will work or not?
I then read further down in your post that if you have 4313, "you can use Bootloader for Updating Firmware" and to use tsb.zip. But for my case, is the bootloader still working correctly for this to work?
