Why does DIR in DOSbox always return 262,111,744 bytes free??

That's intentional. If it were to show a true value of bytes free it'd overflow and confuse many install programs that you have no disk space.

Ok, thanks, I thought it was an arbitrary number based on some LONG value stuck to 256MB or less..
