This is a newer version of Pro Audio Spectrum 16 with SCSI on-board, FCC ID: IXW-PAS16NS, model number 650-0044.

I can now boast of being able to identify a Media Vision sound card without actually seeing anything 😀

Here you can get fantastic wallpapers created by a friend of mine: patreon.com/Unpocodrillo

Yep - this is the exact PAS16 that I have. Except mine has red resistor packs. But the rusty jacks are the same!

Windows-95c has drivers built-in to support this card.
So you can test this card before you sell it.
You need a ISA motherboard with 5v. rail support too.
In Win95 go to control panel and add new device.
Select to add the "Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16"
Add drivers and reboot.

I actually like the sound that comes from this card.
There is kind of a 3D sound.
Sounds good with music CD's.

Oh, I would look for a NEWer MV-PAS16.
The old ones had the audio from the motherboard passing through the ISA bus.
So the MV-PAS16 would play all the audio produced by the motherboard through the ISA bus by default. Could not be turned off.
This also caused a hissing problem.
and interference with audio play back in the PAS16.
The NEWer PAS16's did not support this feature and therefore provided a cleaner sound.

Are you talking about the PAS' ability to intercept the PC speaker via the ISA bus? This can be turned off via the mixer (in DOS at least), and where did you get the idea that it caused a hissing problem?

Yes there's a hiss by default but this can be tamed, again via the mixer.

@appiah4: Did you get it? I watched that auction as well. Went for 53 EUR, which is IMHO a pretty decent price.

At some point between 30 and 40 I just let it go.. I dont know how much the fair value would be to be honest so maybe that was actually still cheap but it felt too expensive nonetheless.. Hard to justify when your currency is in a meltdown..

Yes, I am not using the DOS drivers. Only the default drivers provided with Win95c.
And this feature can not be turned off with these drivers.
The hissing sound is not bad on the PAS16P but on some older model cards the hissing sound is bad.
I will have to use the Media Vision DOS drivers with mixer.

Yes, that's a Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16, I did have one back in the day and was very happy with it. It comes with SCSI CD-ROM interface and REAL YAMAHA OPL3 (for digital FM sound). It looks like a newer version of the one I have now (see pic). The connectors and plate in the back look really rusted, I would wait and get another one.(Sorry, didn't realize you posted this back in March!)
