Been noticing a LOT of games have been getting updated for HRTF, and frankly, the new soft stuff in these comparisons BLOWS away A3D (2.0). Which was one of the primary reasons I even built a 98 machine. So I'm starting to wonder if I should pair down the number of machines I have. Either way, wondering if some of the 3D sound buffs might know this, rather than going line by line on the A3D game list!

Any A3D games that haven't gotten their sound modernized?

HRTF and A3D2.0 have nothing to do with each other. HRTF simulates 3d sound through stereo, A3D2.0 does ray-tracing in a model 3d environment to simulate things like occlusion. Problem is few games truly made use of the latter. However it wasn't supposed to sound "better", it was supposed to be more realistic, it's unsurprising there are better "sounding" options out there, EAX for example.

Ahh sorry. I suppose I'm asking if there's any games that haven't gotten OpenAL support that only have A3D 2.0 support then? From what I understand, 1.0 is basically just room reverb fx.

No, 1 is HTRF, 2 is raytracing. Room reverb is EAX.
