I have an MPU-IPC-T card and break out box but the BOB has a short cable I would like to use an extension cable but I dont know if they need to be matched or just use the default cables, I have a serial and parallel extension and the MPU-IPC-T BOB only has 9 pins, is it safe to just plug the extension cables in or do they need pin adjustments?

Well, if you use a straight though extension cable, it is going to end up being the same exact pinout as it would normally be so it should just work.

In other words.. just hook up a straight through cable to either end of the stock cable and you will be fine.

For future readers I had a male and female ended cable to use with the card and break out box, the male side of the cable had all the pins and the female end looked all right but it didnt feel like everything was connecting so I pulled the casing off the female end and found there were only half of the wires for the female pin connectors so I believe this is a serial cable and will not work even though the male side looks as if all the pins are used, I have a parallel cable and the big difference is the thickness of the cable its twice as thick as the serial cable but also three times harder to bend and manoeuvre and so far the shortest ones on ebay are 1.5 meters long which for me is to long. Im hopeful there are serial cables somewhere with all the pins and with the thinner cable if you find one drop me a clue here please.

Well, if you want a shorter cable, you will probably have to make one yourself.

Without the proper tools, it is pretty impossible to use the solder or crimp type ends... but you could use one that uses screw lugs.
