Anybody an idea what kind of cards these are? Look like an 286 SBC, but I dont see e.g. a BIOS?
Currently is offered a box with some of these...but I dont think they are of much use?

Looks like they are both missing a daughter card that contains the rest of the system. If this is a scrap lot that the scrapper has broken down they may be in there somewhere.

NICE. Those are solid speakers! Still have mine somewhere.

That's right! A chocolate vintage computer 🤣 It's not exactly "hardware", but I thought I could post it here just for laughs. Because after all, it's Easter, and this is what I got in my basket, LMAO.

Bought this one in the picture....
I have an extra set of 512k Ram to upgrade it with, so why not? 😜
And because complete systems are too expensive and I have two complete ones (one heavy upgraded), and one extra keyboard and some more spareparts, then it will not hurt having this in the closet if things "go south".

I find it crazy that the speakers require a 15V output. While they output at a much lower amperage, that is still more than many PC PSUs

I did a thrifting/craigslist/garage sale binge yesterday. Aside from a couple of sweet lenses to fuel my retro digicam obsession, I had a nice little haul when I got home:

From two different second-hand shops: a complete-in-box TI-84+ for $7 (I had a 30% off coupon), a new type II cassette for $0.70, and a Razer Naga "gaming" mouse with a weird numeric keypad on the side for $5 (unfortunately missing the docking bay/wireless receiver, but it can be charged/used as normal with the cable attached). From a garage sale: Word Rescue & Math Rescue on DS/DD 3.5" disks (I'm not really into edutainment but for $0.50 I wasn't gonna leave them there), and from a guy on Craigslist who kindly responded to my wanted ad, an insanely specific part for a Dell Optiplex 780 I'm fixing up. I ended up swapping him a few things for it, so bonus win.

To be honest the TI is probably going to be Ebay fodder - after I load DOOM on it of course. The original receipt was still in the package; somebody paid $169.99+tax for this thing in 2010. 🙁

A Yamaha YMF701 (OPL3-SA), does anyone know how does it differ from the 71x series? I found references about the latter here on the forums but not the 701.

701 isn't PnP and is very much OPL3+MPU401+SB+WSS glued together, so lot of IRQ and DMA needed, unfortunately I lack real documentation about the chip. 711/5/8/9 are all incompatible with 701.

Could it be a good companion for a SC-55 module, and for early 90's DOS games in general?

Edit: I saw the link on your signature, awesome project there

Just picked up a Jaton GF2 MX400 64mb PCI video card..... last owner says it has issues with i810/i815 chipsets and through experimentation, it only works with the v56.64 win98 driver(confirmed), it works and stable in DOS and 2D, but only in 16bit and not 32bit colors while gaming, and the clocks show for both GPU and MEM are the same @ 143 instead of 200/166 anyone ever heard of such a problem?

I figure i'd use this video card in a slot1 500mhz system of with the motherboard uses the 440BX chipset since its a wee bit more powerful than the VooDoo3 3000 16mb agp2x video card i have at the moment and see how that fairs.

TI-84 Plus calculators are not "retro". They still sell them as brand new. My school uses those same calculators, believe it or not. However, some students have been using the most recent TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculators with enhanced features.

Don't know if there's a white chocolate version, but I'm sure they exist in some places. That chocolate computer came from a candy store, according to my parents.

Or urine-yellow... That would make "pre-retrobright edition".

If your urine is the color of yellowed beige plastic, you either need to hydrate more or go to the doctor 🤣

I got a boxed Amiga 500 today. I don't usually collect non-x86 computers, but the 500 always fascinated me, and I got this machine for a very good price. It came with a mouse, S-Video atapter, power brick and a box full of Amiga games.

Yeah I know, but I'd consider a Z80(?) with memory measured in kilobytes more 'retro' than modern regardless of when it was sold. 😜

I wanted to try some homebrew/demoscene stuff on it, but I probably won't hang onto it forever. I've never used one of these before. Thankfully my school zone didn't mandate their students buy any specific overpriced calculator when I went through. Thanks, TI lobbyists.
