I've been trying to figure out how to set up network play on DOSBox. I've fiddled with the modem commands and the IPX commands to the best of my ability (which isn't much at all), and I can't get the game I'm trying to play to acknowledge the existence of the internet. All the multiplayer settings within the game do not allow themselves to be even clicked on unless there's a connection present.

I don't know enough about this stuff to know the significance of this statement, but this is from the readme for the game:

In multiplayer games, all the competitors must run their own copy of Magic Carpet 2 and choose the network option independently from their own PC. The network should support NETBIOS, which you must run from the command line before you enter the game.

Note: For information on configuring your system for network play, consult your NETBIOS¸ documentation or network manager.

IIRC, You'll need to grab a CVS build from my signature for NETBIOS support. I'm not sure which of the CVS builds have NETBIOS support. Probably ykhwong's.

Also where in MC2 do you have the option for multiplayer? I've never been able to find it and I never played MC2 multiplayer back in the day.

With ykhwong's build you also need the netbios.exe. Search the forum for it.

Thanks for the advice! I will get right on that after I beat my older brother about the head and neck in StarCraft.

Like I said, it won't let you even select multiplayer unless it acknowledges it. You know how the statue's left arm (on the main menu) is holding a planet? The right arm is holding a wreath. Configure your system right and that wreath becomes multiplayer mode. It won't even highlight otherwise (though occasionally a random tool-tip will point to it and identify it). I was actually able to play multiplayer back in the fourth grade, when I had a computer with real DOS.
