hello - new here - i am using glidos 1.32 with Tomb Raider 1

I'm having a problem with Tomb Raider 1 - game crashes when i get to a cut scene 🙁

I only started using Glidos by the time i got to mission 11 (Obelisk of Khamoon) and it plays great but when i get to the end of mission 12 (Sanctuary of Scion) - i grab the Scion and there is supposed to be a cut seen of Laura punching Larson or somthing like that but that game just crashes instead...

Can this be fixed?

I'm on a laptop with an ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 with the latest drivers

Please Help!!!
Thanks! 😀

Strange. If the other cut scenes have been ok, then perhaps the CD is damaged.

Something worth a try is to edit C:\Program Files\Glidos\Glidos.ini, within the TombRaider section change the value of VESASupport from Yes to No

Thanks for the reply - however - the other cut scenes have not been ok - i only installed Glidos recently - and it really upgraded the performance of the game and even allowed the sounds and music to play - however now that i have installed the cut scenes don't work and the game just shuts down - i have tried to edit the Glidos.ini with VesaSupport to no but it still dosn't work... 🙁

Which cut scenes? Is it the FMV ones, or the 3D rendered ones?

Hi,
Yes I'm having this exact same problem. Although, I have been running Tomb Raider with Glidos for a while, before I recently got this problem. It crashes in the same place after Sanctuary of The Scion when the FMV is supposed to play. As I said I only got this problem recently and it used to run everything fine. I'm not running it on a laptop and I have ATI Radeon 9200 with all latest drivers I'm sure as well.

So it is just that cut scene or all the 3D cut scenes?

Can you give me a savegame for just before the crash?

Well I've still got the opening credits running and the opening FMV.. When you start a new game the FMV there runs fine. I think the problem starts at the end of the 'Tomb of Tihocan' level where there's meant to be a cut-scene leading into an FMV. Neither of these play for me now it just crashes. Here's my save game file for the end of 'Sanctuary of Scion', just before you have to beat Larson and collect the Scion. Thanks a lot for helping out,

Ok - i've registered (i'm the one who created this topic) I'm glad i'm not the only one having this problem 😀. If necessary - i'd be willing to disable the cut scenes (if that's even possible) i just want to be able to play the game - but i can't get past Sanctuary of Scion so it's really annoying - Thank you 😀

Hiya, yeah I hope this can be solved I can't get past it now either, I'd really like to have it back to working as it was, with the FMVs working. Do you think it might help to get rid of Glidos completely and re-install it again. Only you don't uninstall Glidos do you? I think you only delete it is that right.. It doesn't seem likely it's a problem with the CD.

I should be able to look at this over the next couple of evenings. If it fails for me, then I should be able to track it down. If it works for me, then that is harder, but I should at least be able to give you back savegames for just after the cut scene.

If the latter, then each person with the problem should post their savegame; just attach it to the post

Yes thanks, I don't know why the problem's happened for me. As I said I've had it working absolutely fine, everything playing and running, so I don't see why I can't be able to get it back to as it was again.

Thanks 😀 I'd like it if i could keep using Glidos to play it - it's really good and has improved the game a lot 😀

Hmmm. Works fine for me. 😒 Difficult to guess what the problem is. The cut scene seems to be an FMV, rather than 3D animated. It could be a driver update has made your system dislike VESA modes. Changing VESASupport in the glidos.ini is worth a try. So is changing between full screen and windowed mode.

Anyway, here is that savegame taken to just after the cut scene.

What is crashing? Is it the Glidos server or the game?

Did you try in Windowed mode?

Also worth running c:\tombraid\setup.ext and configuring for no sound (just to rule out sound as the cause).

The Glidos Server isn't crashing - it's the game - i will try in Windowed mode and see if the sound is the problem

I have also tried changing the VESASupport and that made no difference.
My game just crashes but the Glide Server window remains open and I can get back to the game by pressing 'start game'. But still it crashes. I've just tried Windowed mode and that made no difference. I can't seem to find 'c:\tombraid\setup.ext' to change the sound? I'd also like to add that I can view the FMVs as normal up until the end of 'Tomb of Tihocan'. From then on I can't seem to view any of the cut-scenes or FMVs, it just crashes.

That sounds a lot like a problem with the CD or the CD drive. You could try burning a new copy of your CD.

This is exactly the same problem i am having - would both the CD's be damaged?
