So if the MB is jumperfree, changing CPU should automatically recognize it.
But since most of the CPUs are unlocked, it should start automatically at a low frequency, after entering the BIOS you need to enter the correct values.
Remember that only some of the Intel are stuck on top (multi maximum).
However, at startup you can see what model your MB is, so you can be sure which CPUs are supported.
If there are any that are unsupported, there may be a BIOS update that adds support for it.

The intel side the locked ones are the later mmx? I have a 233/200 mmx. I really wanted K6-2/3+ models but the only way is importing.

Did Asus made SS7 board with option to set fbs/clock?

Only the first Pentium MMX are unlocked, and I don't think it's easy to find one.
Assuming you find one, I don't know if the multi maximum is 3.5X, or you can go with multi 4X (266) or 4.5X (300).
Regarding the K6-2 + or K6-3 +, there is a site where you can find all the info you need, it would be here:

But if you want to put a K6 + you have to be sure that the BIOS supports it, otherwise it could start with higher voltages for example. 2.9V, or it may not start at all.

I noticed only now that the MB is an M590, and checking on the site that I told you, for K6 + says this:
CAUTION: After installing the K6+ CPU, enter the BIOS Setup at the first boot and set the 'CPU Plug and Play' option to 'User Define', and 'Vcore Voltage' at 2.0V. Not doing so may damage the CPU!
This patch J.2 BIOS also fixes the USB ports problem of the 990625S(J) BIOS.

Thanks for the help, PC@LIVE. About the the K6 Plus, i dont plan buy. For me is just importing and will be not cheap. I tried with a normal K6-2 300 and changing the multiple to 2x, at bios screen shows 166 mhz.

On K6 CPU's, the multiplier 2x is treated as 6x by the CPU.

You should be able to run it at 3x 100MHz.

You're welcome. Regarding the K6-2 only the CXT version has the multi 2X automatically remapped to 6X. They can be recognized by the small inscription 26351 near the corner.
Since your MB is a Super SKT7, you can put any K6-2, your K6-2 300 can be set as 3X with FSB100 (as Cyrix200 + used to say).
I saw that there are various models of M590, one has a 4MB video card and the other an 8MB one.
I don't know which one you have, but keep it in mind, in case you want to update the BIOS.
The K6s are among my favorite CPUs, I put them in almost all the MBs, they only have one FPU not up to the Pentium, if the PC uses them often, maybe the Pentium MMX would agree.
So, if you use programs that use the FPU a lot, instead of the K6-2-300 you could try the Pentium MMX 233 @ 250 (multi 2.5X FSB100). I don't know if your CPU can go beyond 250 ???
In any case I found some info on the M590, in practice if what they write is true, setting the BUS to 100MHz, it will actually work at around 90MHz, so the 2.5X with FSB100 would actually be around 225MHz (2.5X90).
Do some bench, check the actual speed of the FSB, if it is around 90.
