You're only gonna get 160Hz in fairly low resolutions (1024x768 and less), both due to monitor and any converter limitations. Cheap converters pretty much top out at 1920x1080 at 60Hz or other similar spec.

Regular convertors will not be able to output VGA @ 160Hz. There may be professional equipment capable of doing so but from the top of my head I don't know any and it's probably expensive as hell. There just isn't really a market for that sort of thing.

Has adjustable scaling and an output pixel clock of 165MHz which should be what 1024x786@160Hz needs. Only question is wether the software supports custom output settings.

Generally yes, depends on the adapter though. I have the Sunix DP-3000 adapter which has at least 500MHz pixel clock. 2070SB can do at 4:3@160Hz a max of 1056x792px which needs only about 200MHz though. You would want 500MHz for resolutions like 2784x2088@60Hz.

There is also a built-in service menu on 2070SB which you can use to tweak white balance and pedestal (black) level, see page 33 in the service manual.

I think you should try, I have a DVI (Digital) to VGA (Analog) active converter and it only supports 60hz refresh rates and 70hz on modes that require it.
