also on a quest to save old Java applet games and run them offline. I have Javanoid, 3D Driver, and Jet Slalom saved so far. Making batch + html files to run them through appletviewer.exe

Possibly? My family and I went to Hungry Howie's that has old school arcade games and played a few (Donkey Kong, Galaga 3, Pac-Man, and Asteroids). They had games from the late 1970's to the 1990's and it's like walking into a time capsule, and there was a sit-in Little Caesar's that had arcade games.

Definitely need a better video card. The current Trident GUI9660XGi is kinda' awful, in that Win95 is stuck in 8 bit color. Not sure if adding RAM would help in any way.

What resolution are you running and how much RAM is on that 9660 now?

That looks like 1024x768 to me, and I'd expect a 9660 to have 2MB of EDO DRAM, in that case you should be able to get 1024x768@16b, or 1280x1024@8b. If you can't manage that, there's something wrong (drivers?). Or the card only has 1MB, in that case 1024x768@8b is the max, and you need more RAM. Either way, post current specs for conclusive answer.

SVGA (800x600), and XGA (1024x768) was making it output at a weird frequency that my monitors hated. Hmm, thanks. I took another look, and for whatever reason, even though Win95 had access to the 9660 drivers, and identified the card correctly, it still installed some other version. It wasn't throwing any sort of flags in the system properties. Weird. Either way, it's all sorted now. When you're scanning the horizon, you can't see your feet.

Only one empty case in the lot.

Removed leaking barrel batteries from these 286 motherboards. After cleaning the damaged area caused by leaking batteries, still none of them work (not posting). And if that wasn't enough disappointment for today, the last motherboard I tested, must have had a short, because it has shortened my AT testing power supply. Now the fan turns only for a moment and it squeals inside. Now I have to look into that as well...

Not a good day for retro I would say...

Probably not. Most graphics cards may not be easy to fix unless you know exactly what you're doing. But maybe they are possible to fix, who knows. I guess you can sell that thing if you really want to.

Trying to determine where the power source for the clock in this HP Vectra 486 66/XM D2933A would be. No CR2032, no obvious capacitor, no barrel battery... There's no such components under the plate in the lower left, and the riser card has nothing on it barring the usual caps for ISA slots. The system is getting on in the years, and I don't want my fastest 486 biting the bullet due to a preventable component failure.

The 78Z1122D-12 on the left is for the unused onboard LAN port, but I don't know what the vented plastic block on the right is. Information on the system is sparse at best. Manual sites only seem to have information for newer models, which have CR2032 cells in plain sight. Mysterious.

Says the part number for the battery is 1420-0513 don't know if that is much help. It's an external Battery. I beleive it's the Red connector at the bottom. This other HP uses the same part number and here is a picture.
