What are the best / recommended drivers to use for the GeForce4 Ti4600 and the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro?

Have a P3 1.4 Tualitin currently running the Ti4600, but not sure if my drivers are the best available option. Also thinking of replacing the Ti with a 9700 Pro, which is overkill I feel, but I could use the extra Video Power on games hopefully to run them at full settings....so wanted to know the recommended driver for that as well

The first question is: for which OS? 98 or XP?

Socket 775 - ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA, Pentium E6500K, 4GB RAM, Radeon 9800XT, ESS Solo-1, Win 98/XP
Socket A - Chaintech CT-7AIA, AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9600XT, ESS ES1869F, Win 98

It's usually a good bet to use a driver that was released a few months after a game was released. If you go much newer you might run into regressions.

Offhand I also remember that early-ish 9700 drivers won't let MSAA work with 16-bit color depth. I think later drivers will force the game into 32-bit color if you use MSAA. Also, Catalyst 5.8 is the last driver with the Truform emulation if you want to play with that (it is super demanding on the CPU though).

GeForce 4 gives you a lot of good options. 45.23 or older is probably the way to go.
