I might have missed it so apologies if I did...also might be a stupid question but is there a TSR to load with this to make it work or should it 'just work' when using it with tandy sound compatible software?

Some software will work out of the box on the standard Tandy port (0c0h IIRC). Some requires patches, like Zak McKracken and Maniac Mansion, see here:

Many Sierra games will allow you to choose Tandy sound during setup.

There are some noise also because of running 3D Printer and ehm Girlfriend playing RDR2.

Prince of Persia needs some hex patching you need to unpack the exe and then hexedit a little bit to enable /tandy option.
Then it will work fine 😀

The most pragmatic solution is probably integrated support for Tandy emulation TSRs at interrupt vector C0h.
An appropriate TSR could then redirect everything to a different port or emulate the SN76489AN on an SAA1099P or even a SID without cluttering Planet X3's code base with code that hardly anybody needs.

maybe.. dreamblaster will bring soon his lpt based tandy soundcard and also had a saa1099 prototype for the lpt port 😀

we trying to get a driver that works without qemm386 now, alpha driver is already working 😀
if planet x3 works with temu, it also should work with tndlpt.
had no time for trying it yet.

so we can estimate how many cards need to be made, or Building Kits.
For Building kits, there are two Designs of the Card, one in SMD and one in DHT.
But only one will be made.
