This is what I am reminded of when I see the fat face design.

Compaq man.
Is he the best or is he a mess?
Does he look totally worthless?
Who came up with Compaq man?
Ugliest man, Compaq man.

The orangutan bezel is certainly displeasing to the eyes, but is it worse than the BlueLight Kmart case? There was a topic on that many years back in this forum and I believe this is where I saved the photos from. In my opinion, the Kmart case is even uglier than the Orangutan Presario. The benefit of the Kmart case is that it is at least stack-able. Being one of the ugliest Presario's ever made, there could be some collection value in it? If both cases were left on the street for free and I was somehow forced a case, but only one, I'd take the Presario.
Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.
Yup, same thing.
What makes the Kmart case ugly is the stupid blue plastic. That could easily be remedied with some spray paint. The compaq on the other hand would require a buzz saw.

At least the kmart accepts standard motherboards.
Presario uses a proprietary one with horrible ISA/PCI riser wobbling around.
The Compaq is indeed hideous, but to be fair at this point the build quality was probably still pretty good. I think this predates the pure crap period.

Not all. If my memory serves me right some of them use standard Gigabyte 5SMM motherboards.

Well, mine (the Orangutan) is using a proprietary board 😀
Any extraneous plastic bulbousness in front of a 3.5" floppy drive is an immediate "nope" on my case selection list. I can't stand drive labia.
People can say what they want, but I’ve always liked all of these ‘90s Compaq Presarios. I have a nice little collection of them. I quite like the style myself.
Starting Windows 95. . .
I didn't even think to check if there was a desktop version of fatface. I found it while looking for something else. I think this might be even worse. I seriously wouldn't hesitate using this for target practice.

A lot of people like what they grew up with. You have my sympathy. 😀
This, my friend, is what a proper Compaq should look like:

That, sir, is hideous.
Merciful gods, this is awful.

I remember when it first came in and thought it was stupid. I never knew its technical name till now though!

Cor blimey! 😳 I wonder what kind of nasty stuff the designers at Compaq were high on when they designed this atrocity.
