may want to look into docking station for your thinkpad, IBM usually supplied PCI slots and on very old think pads ISA slots in docking stations. I have a slectadock 2 for my 770x and it has pci and isa slots, on my t41 and t43 I have a newer dock that has 1 pci slot inside. You can add a real sound card then and even add a voodoo. 😵

Nice laptop and vid card ! All I could find of value in the last few days at the thrifts stores was a MS original Intellimouse (Serial and PS/2 compat w/adapter), a box of unopened Sony 5.25" HD floppies and a NSHL468 ethernet cable tester. $12 total but last month got a Leading Edge DC-2014 XT KB for $5 works perfectly. Just not much good stuff in my area..

Which MS mouse was the first to be officially called "IntelliMouse", though?

I was wondering that the other day because I kept seeing people refer to these (which I love and have two of) or the first MS scrollwheel ones as IntelliMouse. I got this one in the 2000's and it was sold as a IntelliMouse 1.1...

By the way, on eBay US a new listing popped up with someone selling Pentium III 1GHz (100 MHz FSB) CPUs for a very reasonable price of just about 20$ each. He seems to have about 50 pcs in stock: 123622660677
If shipping wasn't so expensive to Europe, I would have hit "Buy it now" within seconds 😁
Maybe an interesting opportunity for those of you located in the US, these things don't show up too often, let alone at this price point.

I purchased my childhood computer in an unknown condition. An HP Pavilion 5010. Unfortunately the motherboard appears to be toast (ebay seller said it powered on but had not post). The ISA modem had a nice black spot on it that must have made it back to the board killing it. Thankfully this replacement motherboard was available on eBay and posts just fine. Maybe I will get around to attempting a repair on the old board...

In the past days I received a couple of treats, namely a Simcheck adapter for plcc/soj Dram and a pair of GTX690. Probably these graphics cards are not yet vintage for my definition but surely matches some hardware vendors ("Vintage products are those that have not been manufactured for more than 5 and less than 7 years ago"). Nevertheless, time will make it so.

At last, but not the least, managed to save a cool computer from the scrap yard, it has a Acorp 5ALI61 Mobo paired with a AMD K6-II 450 AFX. After replacing the leaking capacitors it sprigged back to life 😎

I'm thinking that it may be a good candidate to pair with my voodoo banshee.

I was thinking that I overpaid @ 75€ a pop, but taking in account the crazy market outhere and the fully functional state of those 2 gorgeous beast, I jumped to the deal. Buyer's remorse, but not really, I will have a bunch of fun rigging a 4 way SLI 😀

It's kind of funny to think about it, but a few years after quantum computing takes off, perhaps, almost everything people have now will be "instant vintage." It will take a little while for that to happen, depending on the economics of the situation. And how long it takes people to make usable software for them...
