i have pressed ctrl-F6 i have stopped it when the song was done but the song (.wav) wasn`t in the "capture" directory ... and i have checked the .conf file .. and the directory was correct :
capture directory :
D:\Pc Games\Old Games\Dosbox\Capture >-\
in dosbox.conf file :_____________________|==> The same
D:\Pc Games\Old Games\Dosbox\Capture >-/

there are quotes 😒
and this is not the problem ... I have recorded sound blaster and adlib music and the songs appeared in the capture directory but the ones that I have tried to record with Roland won`t appear 😒
Do you understand me ? 😕

I do understand you.
If it's midi that you are recording then obviously then you won't hear a thing. It doesn't prevent the file from being made though.
Even if there is no music at all a capture file should still be made if you press ctrl-f6.
If doesn't make sure the HD isn't full or so.

well that is midi 😀
So even when you record it. You will get an empty wave file
you need to record the midi commands for that. But I don't know how to play those back.

Well there are 2 problems.
problem one:
why doesn't ctrl-f6 produce a wave file when running TIM on your machine
problem two:
How do you record midi commands and how to play them back ?

Solution number 2:
Read the documentation of DOSBox. (CTRL-ALT-F8).
How to play them back ? I don't know. I never recorded them 😀

Solution to problem numer one:
No idea. Not enough input data.
When running tim. What does the titlebar of dosbox say ?(especially the part after program:)

hmm, doesn't all that depend whether you are using a real MT-32 or the emulated one?
With a real one, dosbox only passes the commands through to the Roland device (correct me if I'm wrong) and you'd need to to capture that in Windows (depending on how you have hooked the Roland device up to your computer).

With the emulated one, I have no idea 😀

PS: Both your Avatars are oddly "disturbing" when they are grouped together like this 😀

DOSBox cannot capture the output of software or hardware MIDI synthesizers in your system because DOSBox is not generating the sound, but rather passing simple MIDI note data to the synth. You have to use a Windows program (or Linux or Mac or whatever) to do it, and make sure you've set the synth (or line-in if you use an external synth and have its output connected to your sound cards line-in) as the ***record*** source in your sound card's mixer.

DOSBox can, however, capture OPL/Adlib/Soundblaster music and GUS music because it emulates those on its own.

P.S. I agree with Dominus 🤣.
