Received one more lot of expansion cards and drives today that I bought off eBay last week for 10€ + 8€ shipping = 18€. In the picture I saw that it had a few VGA and sound cards in it. Seller didn't respond to my question what cards exactly are in the lot, so I decided to give it a shot because hey, what can go wrong for 18€?
Here's what came in today:
- 5 optical drives, production dates ranging from 1998 to 2004
- 5 floppy drives
- 1 badly yellowed Fujitsu Siemens PS/2 keyboard
- 6 PCI network cards, mostly Realtek chipsets
- 3 PCI Sound cards (2x Terratec Solo-1 with ES1938S chip, 1x Creative ES1371 with ES1373 chip)
- 2 ISA ISDN adapters, pretty much useless
- 6 early ATi AGP cards (Rage IIC, 128, 128 Pro)
- 2 Geforce4 MX4000 AGP cards
- 1 ELSA Victory II - A16 (3Dfx Voodoo Banshee) 😎
Still have to test everything, though.
I've been looking for an MSI KT3 Ultra for years now and finally my efforts have born fruit. It's not an Ultra, but rather an Ultra2 but aside from an updated southbridge they are the same. Universal AGP on a 333MHz DDR Bus with DDMA support.. Hopefully one day I will have a Voodoo 5 to use with this.

Interesting, where are you located? A quick glance at eBay listings in Germany turned up quite a few results for boards and complete bundles with CPU + RAM, starting well below 30€. So availability is quite good here...
what a cleanup job on that filthy keyboard! great work

Well.. now you did it. .You made me find one for cheap and buy it.
Will be intersting to see performance difference between it and my Biostar M7MIA (Only AMD 760 based board with ISA - DDR Socket A board with ISA and AGP Pro.. yummy!)

Bit of an impulse buy, but one of these in working condition for a very reasonable price was too good to let pass:
2x Celeron 533
2x 256MB PC100
Now to think of something sensible to do with it...

Quake3, what else?
I got quite a decent haul today. First things first, Creative SB Pro 2 ISA, CT2600, and Pentium MMX 233, both from same seller, 15 euro for both. Also on same photo, a box full of 12 used server-grade hard drives with perfect smart statuses, 2TB capacities, 17 euros a pop. Great deal I think, I'll use them for my offline archives, preparing for the netpocalypse 😉
Then, and this was really lucky, 3 new old stock 17" CRTs, still in factory sealed boxes, I think model is IBM ThinKVision C170. I unpacked one to try it out, geometry seems to be a bit off, but the menu is great, it has lots of settings for geometry, so Im sure if I spend some time I can get it just right. What I paid for these? 0! They were FREE, and I didnt even pay delivery, as a friend got them for me (and a 4th for himself) and drove them to me today as he came over 😀
oooooo, sweet sweet CRTs 😁

Good question. Q3A was the only SMP-capable game from this era, and I'm no Q3A fan (too slow for it, even back in 1999, now far, far too slow), plus two Celerons are pretty underpowered for it anyway. Maybe dig up a copy of BeOS and watch the teapot slow down or speed up as I disable/enable CPUs on the fly.
Dual Celeron 533 is an NT4/Win2K thing IMO..
Egad ! You guys are so lucky ! Hard to find any "bundles" over here but did get a box of "scsi stuff" off a local advert for $75. Have not gone thru the box yet but I spied a VLB card sticking out longer than the other cards.... Will post a pic once I get them unboxed..
Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Loving that board, I have 2 of them 😀
If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀
i picked up two heatsink/fan for socket 7 and two unopened boxes of floppy disks
love the mounting system on those heatsinks 😀
Got a new vintage camera; it's my late grandpa's Edixa Standard.
Nothing rare or mindblowing, but a neat little entry-level SLR from the 50s. It comes with an intact leather case, a big leather box for all the extra stuff and even the interachangeable waist-level viewfinder -- which is nice if, like me, you wear glasses and have trouble properly seeing through a prism viewfinder. Everything was neatly wrapped and labled by my grandpa too.

Good point. I have one original Gorb and one clone. Haven't looked at how close the clone is.
That said, I'll only start hacking away at my orbs if I'm sure I'll be keeping the system long-term
I bought a bunch of the clones and also got one original, iirc they're pretty much identical.
