Im a bit confuse, i was suppost to test a A1330A card on a test station and without drivers the card seems to work fins with example wolf3d ( it says it detects sound blaster and it works ),doom,star wars and so on, i had no idea that it even was possible or am i missing something?

Sound Blaster cards never needed any drivers for DOS. As long as their resources are set (by jumpers, PnP BIOS etc.), they will work. This is true for most clones as well.

Indeed. Under DOS, game and software developers had to write a driver for each type of sound device. You just need to make sure your SET BLASTER environment variable is defined in your Autoexec.bat file, since some games expect it. I won't go into detail about Miles drivers, etc., but this is how it basically works.

Under Windows, it works differently and there you require a driver that must be installed in order for the hardware to function properly within the OS.
