Bought 2 NOS Adaptec Ultra 160 cards on ebay recently. Unfortunately It looks like I've bricked one while flashing the BIOS. 😒

So what have I got...
Here's the advert I saw whilst browsing Gumtree and eBay for 486 stuff working hard at work, and I suddenly arose from my excel-induced stupor.
Good condition box.
It's a Soundblaster 2.0 CT1350B. It's in absolutely mint condition and the antistatic bag was still very sealed. It's got the FM synthesis chip included, but no CMS chips (empty slots for those). I've always liked CMS music so I must track some down!
Driver disks. I don't actually use normal floppy drives anymore but I think my current XP PC, my i7 860 does actually have a floppy header so I might extract all the drivers. It also came with two Text to Speech software disks.
Not quite untouched as the lemmings and Indi 500 games have been pinched. The card was to go in one of their child's PCs, but never did, so likely that Lemmings got used!
Software envelope
I think it would now be a criminal offence to not build a 486 PC!
The guy has just started doing a loft clearance, and as he is literally 3 minutes' walk from me he took my number as he thinks he has a few more bits up there.
Ahh that's great, that's the box style that my CT1350B had.
Nice find 😀
Nothing worse than buying a 3DFX v5 5500 and finding the power circuit damaged or messed with.
Pentium3 1400s/ Asus Tusl2-c / Kingston 512mb pc133 cl2 / WD 20gb 7200rpm / GeForce3 Ti-500 64mb / Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SB0100 / 16x dvdrom / 3.5 Floppy / Enermax 420w / Win98se
abit bx6. replaced 1 bad cap. works great.
edit: didn't work great but, found the problem. previous owner boo boo.

Now that's a good way to start the new year!

Those are all OEM packs. Now you need to upgrade your game to retail versions 😉

Those large Amazon boxes are no good for re-use, unless you completely wrap them with tape. They are designed to be easily unfold and recycled.

that box is epic, kudos!
Still missing in my collection 😀 Was hidden in the 5th picture of a local ad. Offered 100€ and seller accepted 😀 😀 😀
GUS Max is an amazing highly collectible card. Congrats! I have two of them v1.8 (like yours) and slightly improved v2.1.
If you want to use it you definitely need to upgrade RAM to 1024k.

Wow, what a weird ATX power connector placement. Must be fun trying to route that if your case has disk shelves or something constricting the room inside.

a little bending and zip ties will take care of that.
Man, that's one clean, nice looking build! Great!
I happened to come across one more "hey guys I want to ged rid of all this old stuff" type ad. Best thing, the seller was willing to ship single cards, too.
Guess which one I got for 13€ shipped 😉
Voodoo3 3000 AGP
Received two packages yesterday, one a forum user (not vogons) and the other from local auction :
Let's start with the one from the local auction :
Two Asus motherboards
A P5A (Super Socket 7 with ALi chipset). I didn't have any working super socket 7 mobo to play with, and they were all VIA based, so this is a nice addition to my collection 😁
A K7M Slot A 😮. It's the very first Slot A and CPU I've found so far 😁
There's just one little bummer : it's an HP oem with removed things (no more ISA, two SDRAM slots instead of three, no more AC97 codec, no jumpers for the CPU's voltage ...)
Thankfully, the original Asus BIOS works on it, I just have to put back the missing headers back and maybe add the missing ISA slot.
There are also two Baby AT socket 7 mobos (one with a P166 and the other with a cyrix 6x86L+), two slot 1 mobos (an µATX MSI with integrated Yamaha audio and a Siemens one. Both are seemingly i440EX boards ...) and a boring socket A µATX board.
There are also tons of cables (coax network cables, serial cables, adapters ...), 16 bit ISA nics, boring 8bit ISA cards (serial controllers, floppy controllers ...) and two 8 bit ISA ram cards.
As for the other package, it contains a ST277R-1 (RLL 5"1/4 that's 70MB large), ST157A (IDE 3.5" extra T H I C C 45MB large) and an other one from the 486 era that's 130MB large.
The two Asus boards work, I haven't tested the other ones yet. As for the HDDs, I've tested the two IDE ones. I couldn't format them on my Abit BH6, but I may just need a slower PC to do so. Still, all three start with no suspicious sounds, so I'm confident they'll work.

Hi guys,
If it's sunday, is flea market day. So I went to the local flea market and got these today:
1. An MSI K7D Master-L dual socket A motherboard, it is in a fairly good condition, no blown caps. Now I have to source two compatible Athlon MP CP?U's. I saw on ebay, there are not cheap at all!
2. A DTK PAM-0056I E-2 socket 7 motherboard, it looks very clean
3. A Creative Sound Blaster PRO 2 CT1600! It's in a very good condition, it was in an electrostatic bag. This was really a surprise! Hope it works...
4. A Radeon 9800 XL graphics card, Medion branded. Unfortunately it's missing a few SMD caps. I saw only after a closer inspection, when I got home.
5. 4 CPUs for my collection, nothing special: an Athlon XP 2400+, an Athlon X2 5000+(maybe with a good mobo, it will unlock the other two cores & L3 cache), an two socket 478 P4 Northwoods. Also grabbed two memory sticks: 16Mb 72 pin SIMM & a Corsair DDR1 with black radiator. Still don't know why I got this last one.
I paid for all of these a little less than 18 Euro! I'm really happy for the CT1600 & the dual socket A mobo... I can say, it was another good sunday flea market run 😀
