I got me MPU-401 ISA card and need help figuring out how to configure it together with AWE64 Value in Windows 98 and DOS 7 under Windows 98.

Right now my Autoexec.bat looks like this:

SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET CTCM=C:\CTCM

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 E620 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0

C:\CTCM\CTCM.EXE
C:\SB16\AWEUTIL.COM /S
C:\SB16\MIXERSET.EXE /P /Q

I read that I should change SoundBlaster's Midi address from 330 to 300, since the MPU-401 card is set to 330. How do I do that? Can someone give me detailed instructions? Do I need to change something in Windows Device Manger? Do I need to manually change Autoexec.bat? What else? I need the MPU-401 to work when booting to DOS command line under Win98, and also to work for windowed DOS games launched from Win98.

Device Manger \ Multimedia \ AWE64 midi device \ Resources \ Change resource 330 to 300. That's for windows at least. Under DOS, you will need to set BLASTER to 300 before running CTCM. I do exactly the same thing and it works fine.

I went to my device manager, opened "Creative AWE 64 16-Bit Audio" device and changed input/output range from "0330-0331" to "0300-0301". Is this correct?

I also see in my device manager two "MPU-401 Compatible" devices, one is showing input/output range of "0332-0333" and the other one is showing "0334-0335". Should I change one of these to
to "0330-0331"? What about the second MPU-401 device,? Why are there two MPU-401 devices? Also, both devices show IRQ 3, even though the MPU card is configured via jumper to IRQ2. I assume I should change this manually to IRQ2 in device manager ? Both MPU-401 devices were added/configured automatically during Win98 install.

In Autoexec.bat I should change

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 E620 T6

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P300 E620 T6

Just leave the other ones and IRQs. They could be another sound card or a virtual device. Just see if it works first in DOS window, play a game and see if it works with the MPU card at 330.

Thanks for the help, I followed the instructions and it's working both in pure DOS mode and in Win98.
