Bought this Creative sound card CT4810 today for 3 EUR. There's absolutely nothing special about this card (in my humble opinion), except a nice price, but I had a feeling that sooner or later the seller would throw it away. So, for the sake of community, I bought it 😀

CUBX-E is a great motherboard, and that promise controller is 1 million times better than the CMD controller on the plain CUBX.

It has been a little while since my last update, so this is a doozy.

I was waiting for the InWin IW-A500 to show up on eBay, and it did, but I hemmed and hawed about buying it and someone here got it. 😉

Another NIB one was posted so I snatched it up.

I also collect Japanese accelerators, and IBM 486SLC/2/3/etc chips, so I got the IBM upgrade diskette for the SLC2 chip (I guess it has the stuff to enable the 16kb cache), a SLC2/50 upgrade for a ThinkPad to harvest a chip from for a project, and a Japanese SLC2/50 upgrade for my Sega Teradrive.

Sold here in NZ by Dick Smith electronics, an Australian company. Had a few of their products, when on sale, and still have a few. Not a prevalent as they use to be back in the day.

Download the picture, attach it to your post, and inline it. I wasn't able to get it to show up. Something with imgur is funny.. Apparently the link to the image doesn't actually work if you try to link the picture directly.

I had one in the 90's too. It is (with the exception of those 80's joysticks) the worst of the worst when it comes to joysticks. It is incredibly lightweight, so it doesn't feel solid. Additionally the suction cups are absolutely useless - no idea what they were thinking with this design. Horrible product but nice to see one and get reminded again though.

They are not easy to find, and usually priced hilariously.
4GB on a single DDR1 stick is very elusive, and totally overkill, love it. I will put them in to my mid 2000 daily driver. If anyone needs some of these, hit me up, I actually only need 8 of them... 32GB DDR1 here I come.

There weren't actually that many manufacturers of these. And most manuals that do talk about the possibility of adding 32GB DDR1 into your 8 slots, usually had it asterisked in some way ("Not tested on release date", etc)

No, I don't like it boxed, makes no sense to me. I (more or less) stopped collecting parts, got rid already of most of my mainboards, graphics cards and so on ....
Most likely I won't make another retro build, except I get an AMI Enterprise IV mainboard, then I will make an exception 😁
