Instead of a dual boot Pc I went with original hardware for Dos, 98se and XP so now there are 3 Pc's crammed in an area from originally 1 Dos Pc. I didn't like changing VGA cables or keyboard/mouse around when using one or another so a D-link switch takes care of that and it detects which one is on and routes it with the monitor a very handy unit when turning on one pc but sometimes it doesn't detect right so it has a button to change to the pc needed and I nearly forgot that the D-link doesn't need a power supply.

Things I need to complete are get a modern ATX power supply with the fan at the back instead of on the top that's why I haven't put the case lid back on the 486 because there's no room for it to breath, I'm using an adapter for AT to ATX.

One day I will change the stereo mixer with more inputs as I've maxed out all the ones it has

CaBlE mAnAgEmEnT..... all the cables need tidying up with zip ties maybe tomorrow or next week

The Pc on the floor needs a white front bay drive cover as it's a bit yellow and the case is fussy which ones fit or I will add USB in its place as this one is 98se

Pc on top left: 486 DX2 66 for Dos
Pc on top right: Core 2 duo 3HGz for XP
Pc on floor: Pentium 3 500MHz
Modded MT32
SC55 and SC55 Mark 2
Studio speakers on top
Great pair of speakers on bottom I've kept since the mid 90's that need repair but do a good job of holding the studio speakers at ear height.
The XP Pc has a wireless keyboard as I ran out of D-link cables/ps2 extension cables
I need to get a power supply for the left SC55.

Wow, it's so refreshing to see period-correct computers for 98 and for XP and not Pentium 4 Socket 775 AGP for "high-end 98 gaming" and Core i7-4XXX 8-core with Geforce 980 GTX for "high-end XP system". Kudos to you, good sir. 😀

Why not stack the midi modules?

Ok how about now with an extra SoundBrush although I'm getting worried about how much weight the MT32 can take, I also didn't do it this way as I thought it was getting to warm for the MT32 but I've just now remembered I had the SoundBrush that I was going to sell it's not going to be used but adds to the retro feel.

Nice setup, Duel boot is for wimps. everyone NEEDS a dedicated PC for each era 😉

Why can't we all just have fun?

All hail the Great Capacitor Brand Finder

That's why I'm thinking about building a 15ft long desk!

And sometimes more. The more I shop around for parts, the longer my build list of period specific PCs gets, even having multiple systems for the same era. I might have a problem...

Oops I forgot to say my 98se Pc also has a dual boot with Dos 6.22 for games like Bioforge this Pc has a removable caddy drive that I haven't got to installing just 98se on one drive and Dos on the other, I'm not going to anyway as I might need 95 one day and i only have two drive caddies

I'm going at it half/half
Period correct is obviously better, but comfort and money are taken into consideration.
Got XP in my PIII build mainly for networking (which btw also runs on a rather recent PSU with SATA plugs) and another XP build that also runs 7 for compatibility and ease of use.

Nice MIDI mountain btw.
My only issue: why a widescreen monitor? I know a CRT would probably be better for the two older rigs, but then again, comfort.

The widescreen you see has a 4:3 ratio and I only use the full widescreen for the XP side if a game needs it. I have a great working CRT but I need to make better support for the desk if i want to use it as my desk would probably collapse.

Why the 5,25" drive is built into the PIII-500 ?

Inside your 486 it would be much more period correct...
Or you want to upgrade your 486 with a further 5,25" drive anyway 😀
