Some classic DOS games.

That Falcon box art. Looks like a militarized version of Windows 95.

The Box requirements reads it runs on a 386 or 486 computer.

I just got this Beauty.
It was stored in a basement.
Looks hardly used.
It's a computer from 1993
486 which I will upgrade to an Intel 486dx2-66
4mb or ram which I will upgrade to 16mb.
2x Sony CDROM drive
Media Vision PAS16ls
212mb hard-drive

This computer probably sold for about $3000 back in 1993.
I am going to make this one of my primary gaming computers.

I was just saying that the box art style is so corporate OS looking. The art style has more of an application software look to it than a game.

I have some experience working in a Print shop for making Magazines and Newspapers and brochures and flyers and documents using old printing machines.
with a good camera and some software like Photoshop or Adobe design you could easily create this box cover. It's actually a simple box image with a photos pasting's layered on top of each other.

But, I see what you are saying. The “Wing Commander” box image looks like a free hand drawing and NOT photos from a camera.
Now that you bring that up. I don’t know how they made this back before the 1994 Apple QuickTake camera.

It looks amazing!! Where do you people find these gems? All old computers I get require many hours of cleaning and restoration to get them to an acceptable state 😅

Yes, computers stored away in there original box are usually in good shape.

Got ECS SI5PI which I believe is the best Socket 4 motherboard available.

First needs to get rid of the baby cache and populate 18 cache sockets with bigger modules. I wonder if I can install 2MB of L2.

Nope, dreaded CMD640 chipset for IDE. Cannot use this chipset. I rather desolder that chip and use PCI IDE card with reliable chipset.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

Yes. But the Batman's Revenge has RZ1000 and my other board (ALi) no IDE at all. So there aren't really good alternatives.

Anyway, will be using Adaptec PCI SCSI so doesn't bother me at all.

what a beast :3

The attachment hardware36_08.jpg is no longer available

it will probably need a bit of work, from what I found it should be a 286 machine...

The attachment hardware36_09.jpg is no longer available

"strike any key to setup starts" x3

but what's so special about it?... it has 2 ISA slots ^^

The attachment hardware36_10.jpg is no longer available

that white stuff is very concerning though, going to open this one up asap, there's probably some battery leaking going on somewhere.

Yes you can. The jumper setting is printed near the cache modules.
I guess you need 16 1 MBit SRAMS for cache and 2 512 KBit SRAMS for tag.

Please remember that this async cache is slower than pipelined burst.

so that's odd... I was suspecting this to be battery leakage

but it looks pretty much pristine inside, can only say more once I figure out how to take the top off... or rather how to get to the cables I need to unplug to get the top off.
but for now this looks like it's only outside corrosion?
it sure can fit a decent sized soundcard though :3

The attachment hardware36_12.jpg is no longer available

I wonder if I'll be able to get it to run with a proper DOS setup.

Yes. But no motherboards with them. The 430LX can in theory support synchronous burst chips but I've never seen a motherboard with them.

It looks like a Bravo LC at the back and inside. Great find.

It reminds me of the Amstrad ALT-286, the Tulip LT286 and the Toshiba T3100.

yep, it's very similar to a lot of "laptops" from that period, also has the big handle on the front... but most of those don't just have regular ISA slots for expansion though do they? ^^
I'm sure there are some others though.

I mean it's almost the size and weight of the other luggables and runs on AC, so I guess that doesn't really make it a "real" laptop anyways ^^ but it does look the part.

Cheers,

Forget to install the driver? Maybe that is your problem.

Dont know if the included driver will work, but you could try it out.
Also have other ones. But its all on your own risk.. Can garantee you nothing.

I got those drivers from the older websites by searching on web.archive.
