I think I need something called Cardwiz, but I've not been able to find it anywhere.

It's for my Toshiba Satellite Pro 410CDT. I'm just trying to get it to see my Compact Flash card.

Is this on Windows 3.1? This forum post from another site mentions that CF cards should work without drivers. I wasn’t able to get mine working with the CF PCMCIA adapter I have, though.

I was initially trying to get my PCMCIA cards working on my Toshiba T4850CT running DOS 6.22, and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. After a few days, I gave up and installed Windows 95B (OSR 2) instead. PCMCIA slots worked right after install. You will still need the actual drivers for other cards, but some PCMCIA cards like the 3COM 589 series NICs have their drivers included in Windows 95. Once I had the network card working, I stopped trying to get the CF card working.

I really want a 3.1 laptop though, 95 has no draw for me 😒

What pcmcia chipset does your laptop have, and can you set it between Cardbus and PCIC compatible in the bios?

You need SystemSoft CardSoft. And in addition you will need the "SS365SL.EXE" driver file present in the CARDSOFT folder on the floppy before install. IIRC this is the controller that the laptop uses and installation will only be successful if the aforementioned file is in the aforementioned folder on a real floppy (or at least root folder of drive A:, as the install procedure is hardcoded when it comes to folders.)

I installed the drivers on my Satellite Pro 410CDT successfully, yet I cannot get my PCMCIA CD-ROM drive to cooperate with it. I disabled the ones that were less relevant to my needs and disabled the ATA driver since that was only meant for the PCMCIA flash storage. Am I missing something here? It's an IO Magic PSCD-740 PCMCIA CD-ROM drive.
