Not so much bought, but a colleague had two Compaq Proliant 1500 servers for me today .. My estate car is not nearly big enough anymore 🤣

Single Pentium, and some SCSI controller with battery backup. Don't know more yet ..

I acquired the ASUS V9950 (GeForce FX 5900 Ultra) some time ago and one of the fans was dead, the other one dying... so I spent what felt like hours on eBay and AliExpress to track down a replacement with the right mounting holes. Finally found it, ordered it, waited for it to arrive from China, replaced it - and the thing is still loud as hell. Very disappointing.
Now I am on the lookout for a Zalman VF900 Cu, Arctic Silencer NV 4 or similar, too.
Your "Z-Machine GV1000" surely looks promising, so I'll include that in my search 😄

The seller I bought mine from still has 3 more

Unfortunately he won't ship outside the US... and even if he did, it would probably be too expensive. But thank you anyway! And maybe some other Vogoner wants to grab one 😄

Went to the thrift store today. They had a 50% off sale if you brought an person over 55. Senior Tuesdays are the 2nd best Tuesday. The first is Taco.

Glad I did, as I found something I never expected to find at a thrift store:

I did have to get on my knees and beg for a small load, but getting 2x Kaypro II's? Totally worth me needing to go sell some blood. I know $200 isn't expensive for most, but for me, its 3 months of my "retro budget".

I've only taken a cursory glance at them, The keyboards tell a story:

So I'm open to any tips on getting these guys fully operational. I now have another reason to get a proper, "non temporary" inbetweener going.

Maybe I'll sell them to George RR Martin so he can get Winds of Winter done.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Just got my SB16 (ct2230) today and quickly jammed it in. After an hour of fiddling with the settings it worked. Great sound in Duke Nukem 3D and win3.11

Asus P5A v1.06, Gigabyte GA-6BXDS, Soyo SY-5EMA (faulty), Viglen 486, Asus SP97-V

but getting 2x Kaypro II's?

/dude!/ Wow. All I got for Seniors Tuesday was another game and some nice test leads, and I though I was doing pretty good.

Please do a full thread. I've an ossie and I always wondered about these Kaypros, so will watch with interest.

Where do you people live that your thrift stores get such awesome stuff? Around me it's either garbage-brand stuff not worth saving (CD players/radios from Walmart, etc), or nothing at all when it comes to electronics.

Hey LB, congrats on the find. When I was restoring my IV/83 model ldkraemer of VCFED was a huge help getting it back to full working health.

Awesome.

I think you should leave the keyboards as they are. The text scribbled on them is history, right there.

Completely agree with this. It would be an honor to own a keyboard with so much history written all over it. Just get the insides and keycaps (one's without writing on them) cleaned up and leave that metal skin alone.

Well, it's better than nothing. Where i live, there are no "old-electronics" shops at all. Everything is recycled by the weight and no one is let to pick anything out from any pile of stuff... 🙁

"640K ought to be enough for anybody." - And i intend to get every last bit out of it even after loading every damn driver!

I frickin' love Zenith stuff. Thanks to their government contracts, they actually had the biggest cut of the PC market in the late '80s!

Bought one. No returns, probably dead. Lol

Hope not. Seller looks to sell a lot of old hardware.

Whenever such urge kicks in, I try to remind myself of all the great things I can have with savings on small, impulsive buy.

Ofc, my mind usually conjure up all the reasons of "must-have". I get defeated and submit to the urge by furiously clicking "Buy It Naaauuu" button.

oh well...

Nice ! I would buy one but have 2 GF3 TI-200 128mb still in white box (GainWard brand). I might have bought them from that same seller in Cali a few years ago, they were either refurb or bulk pack older sorta NOS iirc. It should work great !

Bought this unusual Orchid Fahrenheit 1280°.

I hope it is EISA and not one of these proprietary pre-VESA local bus implementations Orchid was pushing in early 90's some of which used EISA-like connector. Anyone knows?
