My parents had a 486 when I was a kid and to stop me using it a magnetic key lock was installed it had a key that looked like the ones on treadmills so the switch must of been a toggle switch I'm trying to recreate this but how would I do this? Would the switch go to the motherboards keylock pins or something more to the bios chip, I kind of remember that the pc would post but with it locked it would display a "pc is locked" or something.

The key-lock pins on the mainboard are simply open or closed. How you close them to lock the PC is completely up to you.
