Hi everyone,
Some time ago I sold my Voodoo 2 card which was being used with a K6-2 450. The card was working pretty well and I could run games like Quake, Tomb Raider 3 and Quake 2 very well with it.
But, since a lot of the 3D accelerated games I wanted to play were being limited by the CPU, I ended up selling the voodoo card and decided to stay without hardware acceleration as almost all games I play on this machine are either DOS or non-accelerated old windows games (Dark Colony, Age of Empires, Warcraft 2, etc). With the money I bought a Celeron e3300 + motherboard + 4GB memory and hooked a geforce GTX650 I had lying around, installed windows 7 64 on it and it is working just great for playing windows accelerated games.
Recently I ran into a cheap TNT2 M64 PCI (32mb), and I'm wondering if it would be worth to get it to add 3D acceleration back to my old rig, will it perform at least as fast as the Voodoo2 did for OpenGl and Direct3D? Or will it be slower due to my CPU? Will it also perform better on Windows 2D games as it seems to me that directdraw runs a little crappy on my current 2D card (which is a Diamond Stealth 2000)?
Thanks in advance 😀
