I found an old article recently that mentioned problems with the Sound Blaster 2.0 drivers. The article claimed that the standard drivers tended to have problems on any system faster than a low-end 486. Their proposed solution on faster systems was to use the older drivers for the 1.5. Hopefully that can give some hint about what is going on.

There's something that makes me wonder - what about using the ThunderBoard drivers, then ? Could one of them be used with BlasterBoard, perhaps ?
If memory serves me well, the original ThunderBoard was supported out-of-box in Windows 3.1 by a separate driver entry.

Removed the led, changed 2 voltage regulators to another type and made some minor layout ajdustments for easier assembly. Nothing that affect performance.

Hello Eugene, I've received my board yesterday, so thank you!
And btw, I've read that the original SB 2.0 was apparently one of the few soundcards that needed a -5V rail? Would this be the case for the Blasterboard as well, or can it be operated without one?

I‘d wager a no. The Blasterboard is an original design. And I didn’t have any problems with it on an ATX power supply.

Hi, glad to hear, no BB doesn’t need -5v, only +5 and +/-12.

I just received my kit today and I was trying to catalogue all the components and I have a question about the inductors L1 L2 and L3. According to the manual these should be 150uH but as far as I can tell the ones I have are 220uH, the colors seem to be RED RED BROWN, but it´s kinda hard to tell the colors apart. In all the assembled pictures I see the colors are the same as the ones I received so I assume there´s nothing wrong with the components but I´d just like to be sure I´m putting the parts in the right place when I start assembling the kit 😀
