I bought an AGP 7600GS today which hopefully will bridge the gap between my GeForce 3 ti 200 and more modern PCIE cards, and used for games in the 2003 to 2005 range with a Pentium 4 or something.

That sounds right to me. I use a 7600GS on ASUS P4P800SE 3.00GHz .

Just received this beauty today:

The attachment 15845370400300.jpg is no longer available

Looks pristine, but untested by last owner due to not being able to find a suitable CPU. That's not going to be easy, but challenge accepted 😀
(that's a Socket 413...)

Mmh, PCIX.
What are your plans for the machine?

No PCI-X, that's just regular 64b 5V PCI.

Plans? Get it working, that would be cool enough. Run Win2kRC2 because I can- then install something else because no software for the platform 😜

When I try to Google for it I can't even find a Socket 413. Is this a non-x86 board or something?

It's called Socket FT1, or BGA413.

Yes. It's a Digital AlphaPC 164LX board, and it accepts AXP21164PC CPUs (400 or 533MHz).

They're not expensive, but very rarely come up for sale. Last one was one on CPU-world for USD 15 last Autumn.

Er no, this is definitely for PGA CPUs, not BGA. Also about 14 years older.

I had a feeling it was Alpha. Alpha hardware is still somehow in regular business use so finding it on the secondary market isn't the easiest.

Today's project.

A Radeon 9500 vanilla. It has the L shaped memory chip arrangement on the card.
These can, often times, be soft-modded with the Omega drivers, into a full fat 9700 with all the pipelines unlocked.
This was a success with this card and of course, I removed the stock cooler and that bloody die shim! I had to soak that yellow thermal cement they used in WD40 for quite a while before I could remove the shite. WTF?

Anyway, stuck on one of those cheap Chinesium vga coolers on there. They work a treat and are inexpensive. A vast improvement over stock. I'll stick some ram-sinks on if postie ever brings them.

Cheers

Ted

Cleaned up the new case today. Not too bad now! Going to have to glue the 3.5" drive cover in as the plastic catch has snapped. Need to get a spare floppy out of the loft too. This system happily recognises my IDE-CF with 1gb card in so thats a bonus.
Also attached some of the internals that came with the machine.

The flea markets I go to will be closed for a couple weeks due to the outbreak, but this weekend I still managed to get a few good items that will keep me entertained during that time:

Looks like the younger cousin of an Inwin S500. Is this an actual Inwin case or a clone?

Wow good price ! Hope it works

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Nice ! Good looking case. I have one of those 30pin to 72pin adapters from back the 90's.

Don't know, I could not find any markings on or in the case.

Good lord man, I hope you're not split on whether to contact the seller for a refund.

X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty. I don't have a PCIE one yet, and this one was a decent price.

I see what you did there x3
but yeah I already messaged the seller.

I only paid 4€ including shipping for both, that paper envelope was not enough evidently... I didn't expect them to be this brittle either.

I snatched this beauty off eBay, it's going to be fun diagnosing why they couldn't get it to power on. Also curious what the CPU speed is, 50 in the Prolinea means 50MHz but I dunno if that's also true of the Presario.
