There are several different versions of Premiere/PCI (which is the official name of "Batman" or Batman's Revenge). I believe the earlier ones are Batman and later Batman's Revenge. Just not sure when to draw the line.

The AF1 vs AF2 is the only clear way of identifying these two I know about. However it looks like boards can be flashed with either BIOS with some tricks.

People (and also Intel in the BR manual when they refer to "previous version" of the board) claim different ways of ID. Such as:
- Presence of voltage regulator,
- the Dallas or flash BIOS chip being socketed
- Absence of R1000 PCI IDE and tailored PCI3 slot to allow for PCI-IDE card via ISA interrupts
- presence or absence of fast/slow FAN header
- position of certain components on the board
- PCB colour

I handled several Batman or Batman's Revenge boards and found quite a few that broke one or more of the above rules. So none of the above attributes is 100%.

But I am almost certain your board is neither Batman nor Batman's Revenge, but Hendrix 😀

My guess is thru ebay or amibay. I ordered the Arduino 4164/41256 Dram tester and should get it in a week or two. Nearly all the thrift stores here are on a lockdown. all restaurants and bars are also closed (except for drive-thru's) and the Gov wants us all to stay at home....next step will be full quarantine possible on Monday or Tuesday.

Certainly no Batman or Batman's Revenge board. The chips on it are way too new for these. I have a later "Neptune" socket 5 board, which is based on the layout of Batman's Revenge and that has chips all *older* than those on his board. Also, the layout is odd and without a doubt newer. It's probably some very late revision of Intel's socket 4 board that fixed many of the flaws Batman and Batman's Revenge had.

Yup, it is Hendrix version, BIOS code ends BL0

Still, happy as it works, first round of dosbench tests done with SX828 💪

Re. Batman mislabelling - a mix of the above criteria made me think it was batman, thx for clarification

Not yet, but clearly there are so many a'holes who are happy to play covid-19 roulette with their own & other peoples lives, an enforced lockdown can't be far away.

For the time being (and who knows, maybe infinitely longer!!!)I I snuck one last buy under the wire and it's a biggy - a Data General AViiON AV 2300 departmental server, based on the Intel Astor II chassis & the L440GX+ mainboard. As a precaution it's staying out of the way in the packing box meantime until I can be arsed to give it and the contents the bleach wipe treatment but brief details are as follows -

- dual P3 500/512/100 SL35E
- no memory
- SCSI backplane + trays
- floppy & SCSI CD but no IDE / SCSI drives
- chassis, mainboard & PSU

I bought it cheap knowing there's some damage to the front bezel which hopefully I can repair or replace. Here's a launch pic from 1999 I found online

My retro purchasing has also ceased for the foreseeable future. Everything I've posted recently has gone through quarantine--at least two weeks, much longer than virus is thought to live on cardboard, metal, or plastics--since reaching my stoop. However, even if I am careful, this is not worth the risk. There are too many vulnerable people out there, and I can't be part of the problem.

However, I can still share something that was acquired some months ago:

This is my third (3rd!) Abit BH-6. The other two I already posted about. The seller promised it would work and provided screenshots of it running under DOS and Windows 98.

The only thing I'm not entirely pleased with is what appears to be oxidation or corrosion on some of the rear ports, as well as anything that may be made out of a similar metal:

Does anyone have similarly-afflicted hardware?

It happens to pretty much everything I buy hereabouts, I just give them a good rub with de-ox/contact cleaner spray.

well postal services are still up for now, but a lot of overseas shipping has ceased, having said that though I also have stopped for now... still waiting for a few things to arrive though 😒
currently I just put packages into their own quarantine before even opening them, and wash thouroughly after handling them.... then after a day or two I open them up and look what's inside and then let those things sit for another day or two.

I am quite surprised how active ebay&co still are though.

VLB miro 12SD S3 Trio32
Diamond Fire GL1000 Pro PCI, finally found one :3 had this card in my Socket 7 system before making the switch to PII.

CT3600 SB32 pulled from a mystery PC... there is some more stuff in there to take out later :3
CT2230 SB16, this and the VLB card were both in a PC that was packed awfully, the case was missing it's cover (which I knew) but all the cards were flying around loosely and both the soundcard and the S3 VLB card were wedged between other parts and the shipping box... I'm suprised they survived as well as they did, the case was tighly in a box with no further protection, one of the slot covers poked through the box.

...oh and this Ensoniq Soundscape OPUS :3

Will just go with this one, no words required to describe it 😀
