Pretty good considering that the last big performance buy I bought was my Radeon 9700 Pro back in September (Been buying peripherals and lots and lots of 120GB and removeable HD's lately)...can't remember when I bought my 2800+...December mabye? Gonna have to check my records. Anyways it goes to show that it doesn't take that much effort to stay on top as far as gaming goes these days. Of course Morrowind is still kinda slow @ 1280X1024 on some cities.

Yes, yes. I'm Ex-3Dfiles. No comments on the long post please and yes it is necessary. -- View image here: http://arstechnica.infopop.net/infopop/emotic … /icon_smile.gif --

I've been hearing that 2003 may not be a good comparison benchmark. Seems that results are very odd between systems. Probably people with different vid cards (GPU/NONGPU/Pixel/Vertex Shader vers) but I haven't looked into it myself.. Heck, I just ran the benchmark 5 mins ago.

Added Monitor LG 38GN95B

Not a good monitor if using XP so for my 9x,XP,10 machine (980ti) I'm using the XB271HU and for my desktop I'm using the XB271HU and the LG 38GN95B

Spent hours troubleshooting on XP. Unable to get above 30hz at 3840x1600 on XP. Works fine at 75hz on Windows 10.
Nvidia scaling requires native resolution to be set but 30hz too low. Next step down was 1920x1080 at 60hz which is workable but no scaling for lower resolutions except for monitor scaling which is horrible.

DVI glitches at 3840x1600 @30 and not useable.
HDMI limited to 1920x1080 @ 60
Displayport best but unable to use "PC" resolutions without screen blacking out. Custom resolutions work the best. "SD,HD" resolutions work but no scaling.
Switched to the XB271HU @ 85hz @ 2560x1440 (Above 85hz no luck in XP) with the 355.82 drivers and all is well.

Going to buy some new cables and see if that makes a difference and if not I guess 2560x1440 on the XB271HU will have to do.

Added my old 1tb 970 evo plus from 2019 to my main desktop since my 2tb 970 evo plus was running out of space.
Mabye someday we can buy a decent 4tb m.2 ssd without paying an arm and a leg.
Also reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch on the 1tb since the install on my 2tb was from my old i7 install from years ago.

Added this bad boy to my main desktop "Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X550-T2" since my asus 10GBE hadn't had a driver update since 2018 and was acting flaky and the onboard NIC had to be limited to 1GB otherwise I'd have to disable and re-enable the NIC often after lots of file transfers. WTF

Finished upgrading my test desktop so I'm ready for testing, I'll only place the parts I need in the case for whichever OS I plan on testing.

Last hardware added:
4x Noctua NF-A8 PWM (Now my system doesn't sound like a jet engine)
Synology 10Gb Ethernet and M.2 Adapter Card E10M20-T1, RJ-45 Samsung 950 Pro + Firecuda 520 2TB

Did some cable cleanup and was able to fit the "GIGABYTE Gaming OC GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N3080GAMING OC-10GD (rev. 2.0) (LHR)" into the Sama IM01!. Had to remove the PSU cage and raise the PSU up which required zip ties.

Motherboard on the living room PC died. Asus of course. Replaced with MSI. The MSI board is better anyway. MSI and Gigabyte never let me down.
Need to see if I can get money back for the other motherboard.
