Hi,

i'd like to render some demos to AVI's, but my system is to slow.

Is there a way to have dosbox render the movie to avi (non-realtime) so that when it's played back from avi the demo runs at full speed?
(e.g. no skip, 50 fps, fluent sound, etc)

thanks.

Read README first.
Q: Can I set the cycles higher than my PC can handle during recording?
A: Yes. During recording, the game might play slowly and stuttering, but the
resulting movie should play at the intended speed and have no stuttering.

ok sorry, didn't see that one, will try.
thanks!

EDIT: it is not in FAQ of the README file bundled with the mac osx version of DOSBOX v 0.65

thanks, it works..

one thing though, my audio is completely distorted when played back?
(mac osx vlc/mplayer latest dev. versions)

the audio was fine when recording (stuttering ofcourse because of lack of speed)

hmm it should be allright.
there is a different timing algorithm active during recorrding to make sure the audio is matched with the screen data.

can you make a small sample movie ?

try one of these
video plays back fine, audio is total noise (and extremely loud so watch out)

http://defekt.nl/~jelle/royal_001.avi (2.5M) or
http://defekt.nl/~jelle/demo_000.avi (1.3M)

in the beginning of this intro the audio volume is a bit down, in that case the audio in the video is just totally distorted but you can still hear a bit of what it is supposed to be

Yeah Got an idea.
The audio is saved as an 16 bit variable little endian.
Probably dosbox saves it the wrong way around on a mac os X.
hence the distortaion
